First collab, and what a fun collab it was! This was originally an idea from softseal, but they gave up the idea. Me and new author Polydeer promptly jumped in on that opportunity, as we loved the original pitch. I have no notes of polydeer's collaboration, it was seamless and we worked very smoothly together.

As for the actual article, it was intended as a fun piece for Halloween, and a palette cleanser for the community. The 9KCON entries were superb, but we can all agree they were quite bleak. Me, seal and poly sought to cleanse peoples palettes with a light hearted, comedy article for Halloween, and I am very happy how it turned out.

It was mere coincidence I came back to writing on the run up to a kcon, but I am very glad I did. This was a lot of fun to write and being able to just say I managed to submit something to a contest here is a big thing for me.

It felt surreal seeing my entry and name pop up on the hub, and my article being passed around alongside the many great authors who submitted has absolutely stirred some impostor syndrome in me, but I tell myself this is a learning experience and even submitting was an achievement! Regardless of the outcome of this one, I am proud to be involved :)

In the words of Plague: this is my first Guy™ article, which I have wanted to try for a while. At first I wanted to write something about an actual structure, but exploring something more abstract like the structure of conflict and time ended up being more fun here.

This is actually my third written piece, as I wrote it while waiting to post my 9kcon submission. I managed to get it out one day before the con, making this my second post.

I felt much more confident here, I took the main problems with my first article and tried to smooth them out as much as I could. I also stepped up my dialogue and narrative writing.

The theme came to me first here, I wanted to explore grief and different interpretations of it, mainly avoidance/denial. Hotels are the epitome of temporary relief or avoidance, which is where the anomaly came from. The promo channel part was added for a unique spin on the "liminal space" idea I was treading here, it feels like most hotels I stay in are playing these crappy promo channels. Those three things combined are what made this pretty much.

This is my first SCP! Or should I say… my first successful one. I actually made my first post here back in 2019 during Series 5! Coldposted and got instantly deleted. I went back to lurking as a reader for a while, but 6 years later I decided to start writing again, but using proper crit this time!

That being said it is far from perfect, there are clinical tone issues- well just issues in general with this one, but it was my first step and I will always value it for that. I will also value all my critters here, as they did a great job encouraging me to continue writing, even the ones who didn't like it gave me great feedback on how to improve.
