General Info

This Is My JamCon is a music themed writing event for all of the wiki to share in one another’s music tastes, with a little competition on the side. Contestants will submit any song of their choice along with the music genres they like, and then will be matched to a song from another contestant. It’s your job to write an article based on that song, utilizing its themes, content, or motifs to craft something new! It can be a SCP, Tale, GoI format, or anything in between as long as the influence of the song is present and accounted for! Prizes will be awarded for the 3 highest rated articles at the end of the con!

Prizes

All three top articles will get a spot dedicated to them on this hub! The third place winner will get art of a character of their choice on the front of a music magazine, second place will get an album cover made for their article that is digitally signed by the contest hosts, and first place will have an original song made based on their article!

Submission Rules

Any song may be submitted, though it is recommended that submitted songs have some vocals for the writer to draw from. To submit a song direct message this form to Crat, Iammuffin, troutmaskreplica, or Frodmaer on the SCP Discord.

[Preferred Genres] the genres of music you want to write.
[Excluded Genres] the genres of music you don’t want to write.

The judges reserve the right to deny any submission, if this happens you are free to submit another.

1. Each contestant must submit 1 song of their choosing (using the provided template) to iammuffin, The Frodmaer Club, CRAt26, or TroutMaskReplica (discord DMs are preferred but wikidot pms are accepted too) along with the genre it belongs to (you can give a hyperspecific subgenre, but we encourage you to also try to fit it into a larger umbrella where possible, otherwise it makes it harder for us to match people with prompts).

1b. Submissions are sent through discord DMs, however you do not need to be a member of the official scp wiki discord (side chatters welcome!)

1b. As a guideline, try to be specific in your submission choice. There’s nothing stopping you from submitting the most played song on the charts right now, but it isn’t a very good music suggestion if everyone has already heard it a million times before.

2. Each contestant will receive a song submitted by another contestant at random, taking into account their genre preferences.

2b. If you cannot write for a specific song for whatever reason, reach out to muffin, frod, trout, or crat and we can work out getting you a different prompt. In the most extreme of cases, we will provide a list of backup songs that can be used instead (we encourage this to only be used as a last resort, as the main spirit of this contest is to share in each other's music taste).

3. The article can be any page type (SCP, 001 proposal, GoI Format, etc.)

3b. The article does not need to directly adapt material from the song, but must show clear inspiration, whether this be in the themes or a clever subversion of them. If asked, you should be able to show us how the song influenced your story.

3c. The song used as a prompt must be linked in the author post for all submissions, that way readers get a chance to listen too. :)

4. This contest is as all things on the wiki subject to CC requirements. Song titles cannot be copyrighted, but extended portions of lyrics may be and should be avoided for that reason.

5. Submissions must be posted within the posting window to be eligible for prizes. No major edits can be made to submissions after they are posted. Submissions cannot be reposted during the contest.

5b. Submissions can be made after the voting window ends. If you miss the posting period, please go ahead and post after the contest, we’d love to see the articles up!

6. Submissions must be tagged with timjc2026-unofficial.

7. Collaboration is permitted, however each person can only take credit for one submission. Multiple submissions associated with one person are not allowed.

8. Attempts to swindle or otherwise go against the spirit of the contest may result in disqualification from the contest at the discretion of hosts.

8b. This contest is meant to foster community through music, and attempts to game upvotes or engage in malicious voting are explicit grounds for disqualification.

9. Winners will be decided based on page rating at the end of the voting period.
