A poem about being rejected before it even happens
SleepyTales #38605518
Since this is pride month, I'm going to do some vent work here (In a poem!)
'What do you think, dear?'
My parents ask me one day
Something evil that they agree with together
The thing my eyes would roll off from
I have to say something good, I have no choice'I think she has a point'
I manage to act out as planned
They're satisfied, not picking up hints of discomfort
Thinking I was on their side
But for me? It makes my body hollowed. Why did I even say that?
That words tasted so acrid and shallow
Like one part of me betrays my own people
Something inside my heart just realized…
My parents are like strangers to meAfter that, everything went back to normal
Like a masquerade is taking its place here
Me acting like my usual persona
But now, my secret was dug even further down
Knowing the hellfire it will bring on meI felt the freezing distant from them now
Like being in a field of colourless snow
Having covered all of their trust in a process
I can only pretend that there's still warmness around
Pretending to be their intended target audienceThey are not the beacon of hope I saw them as
Where is the point in trying to connect with them?
Should I reject myself for their connection?
Sure, I love my parents and they love me too, but…
I never felt so alone in my entire life

Damn… that's rough.
I really hope things change with your parents someday. People can surprise you, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. I don't know your situation, but I hope they come around and accept you for who you are.
Take care of yourself, alright?

Pretty much what Coles said.
If it's ever an option, I'd start thinking about getting your own place once you're able. Not because you should have to leave, but because having your own space can make a huge difference. Just don't rush into anything unsafe or unrealistic.

That's… a lot easier said than done.
Moving out isn't something everyone can just decide to do, especially with rent the way it is. Depending on where Sleepy lives, leaving could actually put them in a worse situation.
I'd be careful with advice like that. We don't know their circumstances, and the last thing anyone wants is for them to end up somewhere even less safe.

I'm locking this thread before it turns into an argument.
SleepyTales, I'm genuinely sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately, this forum isn't really the place for personal vent posts, and I'd rather close it now than let it attract the wrong kind of attention.
I hope you're safe, and I hope you have someone you can talk to. Take care of yourself.
