The Prophet

The Crusading King, The Righteous Traitor, President Seraphim, Terror Of The Ophanim, Samyaza's Replacement, The Left Hand of God, Harbinger of the Violet, Slayer of the False Gods

Conspectus

Originally a god-like figure within the mythos of the Second Hythoth, The Prophet is an angelic figure most popularly found in the scriptures of Da'vo Christianity. It is primarily thought that The Prophet betrayed the Second Hytoth in favor of the Da'vo Christian pantheon.

Knowledge

Traits: The Prophet is often depicted as an angel, humanoid, and with wings. In more detailed illustrations, he is shown somewhat consistently with dark blue eyes and black hair with caucasian skin. We can not yet describe him with certainty, as the angel exclusively appears in visions and dreams. Notably, one interpretation by H.P. Lovecraft described him as "religious superiority given form." Though he did not go in-depth enough for us to know what that meant.56

Nature: The Prophet will often speak in the native language of his viewer, the person he visits in the dream or visions, but will consistently speak the language with an English accent, though this is only described in post-Monreau appearances. He will repeatedly speak vaguely or prophetically, avoiding statements of certainty.78910 When he does speak with certainty, it is usually in relation to the viewer or God and Heaven, at least the Da'vo interpretation.

History & Associated Parties: The Prophet was born in the "Era of the Gods," a time predating Earth civilization in Ortothan terms. He was born in a set of triplets in the Hedonin Empire in the My-Eigon system. But much like other forms of information around him, we have found no mention of this beyond very few Ortothan scriptures, which even some of their priests are not confident in.

The story goes that the Prophet and his siblings stole the power of the gods over time, then, after angering an unknown fae god were cursed and killed their entire empire. The Prophet left his planet for Earth, where he encountered an angel. This began The Prophet's association with angels, where it is believed that Uriel, an Archangel, allowed him to enter the Garden of Eden. From there, The Prophet saw the light of God and became a Seraphim, directly serving God and associating himself with the other Archangels.

Interestingly, only Da'vo and Lovecraftian Christianity acknowledge the existence of The Prophet, with the characterizations being identical between the two sub-Veil strains.

The Prophet would then be known as the "Slayer of the False Gods" and "Samyaza's Replacement," having led the charge against his Heavenly Rebellion and wiping out the Nephilim with the flood.111213141516

The Prophet began appearing in dreams and visions around 1370 AD, typically warning of great genocides or massacres.

His last known appearance was, oddly, in another universe. Supposedly, a vision came to several individuals of the end of the Daevite Empire in that world. This is yet unverified.

Approach: The Prophet does not present as a danger; however, it is advised to listen clearly and record what he has to say. If the Prophet appears in physical form, do not let him enter the Library, as his allegiances are not yet clear.

Other Detail: The Prophet is often associated with rain, though there is no clear origin for this.

Observations & Stories

"It will call itself an angel, and it will present as such. But do not trust its word, for it is not aligned to Flesh, to Machine, or even to the Soul. It is aligned only to itself and the destruction of all things. It is a false servant that has lied to the face of God, who grants it mercy. Do not let its word guide you, for it is the Harbinger of the Violet. It is an enemy even of the Scarlet and is banned from Alagadda. Do not listen, do not give it respect. For it will bring you only sorrow."

- Excerpt from The Divine Servants of Mekhane, the Scarlet King, and Elohim

"The angels flew down upon the sinful land, raising their swords and cleansing the filth. As blood and rain fell, the songs of war sounded, and the world cried for mercy. The last thing the false gods saw was the visage of God's Left Hand. Samyaza himself had been replaced, the once great leader of the sacred Grigori."

- Excerpt from The Book of Azazel, 2:10 - 2:14

"Damnation's Lord wore wings of flame,
And heaven itself still knew his name.

"The Left Hand of God stood stern and bright,
A keeper of law, a shield of light.

"The Son of Scarlet Reborn reigned high,
With violet dreams, no soul could deny.

"Three crowns, three paths, three fates untold—
One fell, one judged, one sought to hold."

- Excerpt from The Sibylline Books: Volume 9

Doubt

Many doubt the existence of The Prophet altogether, since he appears only in visions or dreams. Depictions of Archangels typically lack The Prophet, and no record shows The Prophet interacting with another angel in any form. This is believed to be intentional on The Prophet's part, however.1718
