OVERVIEW

What is this?

STILLBORN SKIES is a series set in the "Chaos On The Monolith" canon. Based on djoric-dmatix's SCP-001 proposal, the series follows the anomalous worlds' attempts to use the saints for their own gain. As well as the Horizon Initiatives rise to power.

This series was created by me, poltatherian.

NOTE: The navigation is based on posting date and is not chronologically accurate.

Who can write for it?

This is an open series, so anyone! I recommend that you contact me if you have any questions. :)

CHARACTERS

Although you can make your own while writing, there are a few recurring characters in the main continuity that you may want to keep in mind.

Dmitri (SCP-001-05)

The closest thing to the protagonist at the moment. A man with a completely unknown past or origin. Taken in by the Horizon Initiative at a chaos insurgency prison/ torture camp, even though he's warming up to his "saviors," he is still reserved and highly cautious, valuing his choice above all else, so much so that he even slit his own vocal cords. Currently speaks through a TTS machine controlled through muscle movements.

Mary Coslett (SCP-001-23)

A kind old Welsh woman kept by the Foundation, her limbs chopped off and her body tied down to her bed in a chemical coma. She telepathically consoled Dimitri while he was stuck in prison. Much more knowledgeable about the saints as a whole.

Daniel Carson

Head of the Horizon Initiative's external relations division. A shrewd tongue with a tired smile, self-proclaimed "king of corporatespeak". Next in line to lead the Ordinis Occulti Luminis, though he doesn't know it.

Raymond Baskerville

Successor of the late Henry Demontfort, general of project Malleus & the Initiative's combat forces as a whole, thinks that the Initiative should stop playing conservationist, very conflicted but willing to make sacrifices for the Initiative's overall prosperity. Has a silent disdain for the tribunal.

THEMES

Nobody cares about the Initiative

In the grand scheme of things, while the Foundation rushes to understand the fifthists & the GOC hunts every sarkite they find, even after what happened to France, the Horizon Initiative is barely a footnote, undeserving of any proper attention. Turns out that being out of the eyes of the world's most powerful groups might not be that bad.

The thirty-six are people

And they will get taken advantage of as a result, whether it be by people using them as weapons or saviors. Not every saint thinks the same, and not every saint will bow down to their fate that easily.

The world is always in conflict

The next occult war is always one minor disagreement away; every deal, every relationship matters. Some will gather as many allies as they can, and some will be lone wolves, but the scales of power are shaking, and they won't last the same way for much longer.

WRITING GUIDE

There are some distinguishing features you should keep in mind when writing for this series, such as…

1: France doesn't exist; the Initiative blew it up, the Foundation covered it up.

2: Said Initiative is obviously a lot more technologically advanced, and more trigger-happy.

3: Tensions are high among the wider anomalous community.

---

4: The Foundation is keeping a distant eye on things, but won't directly intervene if it's inconvenient.

---

5: Power is more than just guns and grenades. Allies, information, and fallbacks are integral in navigating a cutthroat world where no one will wait for you to catch up.
