If man is five
Then the devil is six
And if the devil is six
Then God is seven

-Pixies, "Monkey Gone To Heaven"

The year is 1998. Somewhere in the suburbs of Massachusetts there is a garage with a computer. Something inside is flashing with bright, blinding light.

The year is 2003. Lindsey Alps is meeting her new online friends for the first time. As they start to talk, she feels odd. Something seems off.

The year is 2019 and there is nothing left. All around the world, Something still wants to exist.

This is the Seventh Life.

Seventh Life is a video game. It is a simulation game. It is a puzzle game. It is an RPG. It is everything and it is nothing. It exists only as the author imagines it and is defined only as the author defines it.

Seventh Life was created by Robert Quipp and released in 2002 under "Nod Studios", soon going on to become a dominant force within the industry. Yet, as the years went on, the game became increasingly unsustainable for reasons unclear to the wider public. By 2019, the servers would be shut down completely—but the world of the game would refuse to die.

7 years later, the game would be lost to history. Nobody knows what happened, and nobody can remember that it did.

The world of SCP is defined by the anomalous: the breaks of reality; the slow, unpatchable leaks that consume everything. Seventh Life (the series) posits the idea that a significantly advanced digital system would have its own anomalies—ones the creator cannot control. This is the simplest TLDR of what Seventh Life is: a world in which the creator has lost control of its creation (and what that may mean as a reflection of "real" reality).

These anomalies may bleed out into reality in strange ways. They may not. They may simply exist as strange urban legends, or wide-spanning nightmares, or singular events targeting singular people.

Seventh Life articles do not follow a dedicated timeline or story. They exist as singular entities and as a collection of wider themes and ideas that build up the world of the series. Each article is meant to be individually readable as a complete and understandable piece. Seventh Life articles will only be published in Lost Series slots.

It is important to note that this series is not related to pataphysics at all, despite some similarities they may seem to share.
