Item #: SCP-ES-363

Object Class: Euclid Neutralised

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-363 should be kept in a standard humanoid cell with air conditioning and filters to prevent the propagation of dust generated by the object, along with a skylight that allows it to feed. The chamber should be decontaminated weekly by agents equipped with Level 4 NBC protective suits. Access will be available exclusively to Dr. Lucía Reyes for medical procedures.1

The corpse of SCP-ES-363 was cremated after a final autopsy carried out by Dr. Marina Ruiz Torres. After this, its remains will be contained within Site-135’s Object Storage #4 and access is strictly prohibited for non-authorised personnel.

Description: SCP-ES-363 is a 16-year-old adolescent Mexican female with the presence of appendages composed of scales attached to its spinal column, similar in structure, appearance and function of the wings of members of the order Lepidoptera2. These appendages are covered in iridescent scales with elevated levels of carotenoids, which allow SCP-ES-363 to capture light energy in a process similar to that observed in green aphids, covering approximately 70% of its calorific intake. The epidermis of SCP-ES-363, including the scales of its appendages, appears to be shed in small amounts at a slow, continuous rate, generating an iridescent dust capable of remaining in the air. The speed of its shedding appears to accelerate in stressful situations. This shedding causes pain, haemorrhages and damage to underlying tissues of the object. At the moment of containment, SCP-ES-363 already presented visible signs of partial peeling of the epidermis3. Its neutralisation occurred on 14 February, 2010.

When an individual has direct skin contact with the dust generated by SCP-ES-363, the epidermis of the subject begins to shed from the point of contact throughout the rest of the body, causing symptoms similar to those seen in the object but with faster acceleration. This process lasts between 2 and 7 minutes and results in the death of the affected subject. The shed epidermis will take on a morphology that is similar to that of species of Lepidoptera, levitating approximately 30cm above the ground before completely disintegrating.

Addendum A: Discovery

On 19 November 2009, SCP-ES-363 was discovered in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The mother of SCP-ES-363 took the anomaly to an urgent care centre due to the sudden appearance and rapid development of its appendages. The Foundation intercepted the emergency call and proceeded to travel to the hospital to contain the anomaly.

During initial containment, SCP-ES-363 generated its dust due to elevated stress levels, resulting in the deaths of seven Foundation personnel. Subsequently, SCP-ES-363 was captured and transferred to Site-135 for analysis and secure containment.

The individuals that were in proximity to SCP-363-ES and those involved in the incident were subjected to amnesticisation to remove any memories of the event and ensure the confidentiality of the operation.

Addendum B: Incident ES-363-1

On 23 November 2009, a containment breach caused by SCP-ES-███4 provoked the disabling of facilities in Site-135, which affected the containment chamber of SCP-ES-363. The event resulted in a sudden increase in stress levels in the object, consequently affecting Dr. Reyes, who was found attending to the object wearing a protective suit. After the fact, it was discovered that the suit was poorly fitted.

An appropriately-equipped security team entered the containment chamber and escorted Dr. Reyes to the medical wing, where her wounds were treated. The same security team was in charge of decontaminating the containment chamber to avoid further damage to the anomaly while subject D-40407 attempted to reduce the stress levels of SCP-ES-363.

After the incident, D-40407 was assigned to carry out necessary medical procedures on SCP-ES-363 in order to ensure a controlled interaction with the anomaly5.

Addendum C: Object Neutralisation

On 14 February 2010 at 13:52, SCP-ES-363 entered a critical state due to physiological damage. This provoked a rapid increase in stress levels in the object, which resulted in the acceleration of the skin-shedding process. Dr. Reyes, in addition to four other members of the medical team, entered the chamber to carry out decontamination and to treat SCP-ES-363’s lesions.

At 16:43, SCP-ES-363 requested the presence of D-40407. Said request was approved. As a result, its stress levels decreased considerably, which extended its lifespan by a few additional minutes. At 17:35, SCP-ES-363 was deemed neutralised.
