Item #: SCP-CN-612

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A new public restroom has been established in proximity to █████ Bus Terminal to replace SCP-CN-612's original purpose. The surrounding area of SCP-CN-612 is now renovated into a newly-established Foundation outpost disguised as a bus terminal warehouse. Foundation personnel stationed at the outpost disguised as bus terminal staff are to advise persons attempting to enter the anomaly to leave.

Level 2 personnel or above are allowed to use SCP-CN-612 upon request. Since Incident 612/A302, testing is only permitted to be conducted on D-class personnel. The anomaly's unexpected behavior and the underlying mechanism are still under study. A chainsaw is to be stored in the outpost should personnel be trapped in the anomaly. In such events, the same response procedures are to be followed as in Incident 612/A302.

Description: SCP-CN-612 is an emergency public men's restroom near █████ Bus Terminal consisting of two stalls and a sink. A hole, approximately 10 cm in diameter, is present in the partition separating both stalls, apparently to have been created by human action. The stall near the entrance is designated as Stall 1 while the other, Stall 2. SCP-CN-612-1 is the designation for the entity that vocalizes from Stall 2 when the anomaly is active.

When a human subject (hereinafter referred to as "the user") enters Stall 1 and closes the door for at least 15 seconds while Stall 2 is vacant, the anomalous properties will be activated, upon which the door of Stall 2 will close automatically and is unable to be opened by any means, until the user exits Stall 1 (see below). When activated, the user will hear a voice conversing with them from Stall 2. Although no characteristics of the voice can be identified through recording devices, the user will perceive the source of the voice as male. The source of the voice, or SCP-CN-612-1, is described as very friendly.

SCP-CN-612-1 will claim that SCP-CN-612 is a confessional booth in a restroom that opens to everyone who enters, where it listens to people's confessions of their past "sins" and provides help from the stall. It also states that the user's privacy is guaranteed due to the anonymity between both parties and the inability to see each other. For personnel who have used SCP-CN-612 multiple times, it will also mention their prior interactions and display familiarity to them, indicating a certain degree of memory and sentience.

Following its introduction, SCP-CN-612-1 will remain silent and will only answer questions regarding the functionality of the confessional booth. Questions regarding its origin, appearance, identity and similar topics receive no response. When asked about its intentions, SCP-CN-612-1 claims that it wishes to help everyone atone for their "sins". No method, including camera devices, is able to observe SCP-CN-612-1, with the exception of hearing it directly or through audio recording devices. The user is unable to see any entities through the hole in the partition, but they will either ignore such irregularity or find an explanation to convince themselves, for instance, assuming the speaker is hiding in a blind spot in Stall 2.

In 80% of the cases, the user will develop trust in SCP-CN-612-1 and a strong urge to confess their past wrongdoings. It is to be noted that the "wrongdoings" here refers to any behavior for which the user feels a sense of guilt, rather than an act that is legally or morally wrongful, and may range from mild to severe. The urge is not compulsive, as Foundation personnel are able to instruct the user via radio to terminate interaction and leave. In the rest of the cases, the user may either be unwilling to confess or not consider themselves guilty, in which cases SCP-CN-612-1 will not pursue and sometimes express affirmation. The user is able to leave the stall at any time, but due to the fact that most users are affected, they usually don't intend to leave the following steps are concluded.

Once the user has finished confessing, SCP-CN-612-1 will provide a brief comment on the "wrongdoing", usually words of reassurance, followed by a proposed solution. The solution always involves a permanent modification to an aspect of the user's personality, mental state or cognition which may prevent or atone for the "wrongdoing", such as improving the user's personality or erasing the sense of guilt. The solution will also bring a negative alteration, apparently a corresponding cost. The "cost" seldom relates to the "remedial measures", and why SCP-CN-612-1 values the two as equivalent is yet to be known. It only answers questions regarding details of the solution. When asked whether the solution can be modified, SCP-CN-612-1 gives a negative answer, and whether it is due to inability or unwillingness is unknown.

If the user refuses the proposal, they are free to reject and leave SCP-CN-612. See Incident Record 612/A302. If the user agrees, the entity will ask the user to place their hand into the hole to accept its gift. A non-anomalous object will then manifest and be placed into the user's hands, usually a gift, snack or souvenir. At this point, the exchange is considered complete and the solution will begin to take effect. A sample of objects generated by SCP-CN-612 is listed below:

  • A ████ brand biscuit in plastic wrapping
  • An old handkerchief, blue colored
  • Half used bottle of perfume, █████ brand, approximately 5ml
  • A note, apparently soaked, text illegible
  • A crudely made rubber duck, yellow colored

Once leaving, the user will lose all memories of SCP-CN-612-1. If SCP-CN-612 is activated again, the memories will be restored during the activation. If an exchange is completed and the user leaves the anomaly, they will continue to possess the previously manifested object, perceiving it as a gift from a friend whose identity they are unable to recall.

Due to the extremely high soundproofing ability of the stall during activation, communication devices are needed to monitor the activities within. The four PVC boards that form Stall 2 exhibit high resistance to damage, despite bearing dozens of cut marks by blade implement on the door. The upper limit of such damage resistance has not yet been tested. The remainder of SCP-CN-612, including Stall 1, does not contain apparently anomalous materials.

Addendum: Partial Usage Records

Described behavior: Failure to respond in time, resulting in damage caused by an SCP object
Remedial measures: Improved reaction speed and thinking abilities
Negative impact: Drowsiness

Described behavior: Intentional murder
Remedial measures: The subject develops improved mental resistance abilities, increasing their value to the Foundation's research and testing
Negative impact: The subject experiences hallucinations for one hour each day and physical restraints are required

Described behavior: Not thinking before speaking, causing awkwardness
Remedial measures: The subject experiences a 5-second pause before they vocalize any words and is unable to explain why.
Negative impact: Same as the remedial measures. SCP-CN-612-1 appears to consider the solution as both beneficial and detrimental in itself, which are equivalent in value.

Described behavior: Insulting a friend due to poor emotion control
Remedial measures: The subject becomes polite and more willing to communicate
Negative impact: The subject is unable to create any forms of drawings and experiences fear when attempting to do so.

Described behavior: Excessive shopping due to being unable to manage stress approprately
Remedial measures: The subject experiences satisfaction upon physical contact with any flowers and reports improved morale.
Negative impact: The subject loses the memories regarding a middle school friend.
