Item #: SCP-CN-3668
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-3668 refuses to open the hatch or leave its spacecraft, and has assured that it will maintain the vehicle's optical camouflage until it successfully departs Earth, during which time it will not attempt to contact any humans other than Foundation personnel. Area-CN-15 will conduct routine communications with it every six months. No further containment measures are required.
Description: SCP-CN-3668 is an extraterrestrial sentient being whose spacecraft made an emergency landing on the western foothills of the Lesser Khingan Mountains in June 2018. During this event, it conducted a comprehensive scan of Earth, which led to its detection by the Foundation. In initial, limited communications with the item, it provided assurances through a translator that it would not interfere with any Earthly affairs. Given that the spacecraft's technological level surpasses any known Earth technology, and to avoid conflict, relevant Foundation departments agreed not to interfere with the item. However, an outpost was established in its vicinity to facilitate bilateral communication at fixed intervals. Bilateral communication is conducted via a dedicated local-area network computer connected wirelessly to the object's spacecraft. Technicians send questions through the computer and receive responses from the item.
As of the date of this document's most recent revision (December 27, 2025), the Foundation has conducted fifteen successful communications with SCP-CN-3668. Most of these communications consisted of routine Q&A sessions. The object has consistently refused to disclose any information regarding its homeworld, flight paths, navigation technology, or physical form. Excerpts from some of these Q&A sessions are provided below.
Q: We would like to know the latest status of your spacecraft's repairs.
A: It is still under repair; I cannot say when it will be repaired.
Q: We would like to know the nature of the malfunction in your spacecraft.
A: Your technology is incapable of resolving my problem.
Q: Is your spacecraft capable of faster-than-light travel?
A: I have no intention of answering that question.
Q: Has your civilization achieved widespread interstellar travel? Have you encountered other intelligent civilizations besides ours?
A: I have no intention of answering that question.
For the complete transcript of the Q&A session, please contact the Information Management Office.
In July 2024, the Voyager 9 rocket launched by the Foundation's North American Deep Space Exploration Division crashed. Several days later, researcher Yang Mingwu violated protocol by contacting SCP-CN-3668 at the outpost outside of scheduled communication times. Before he was subdued by the task force, he managed to pose the following questions and received responses from the item.
[RECORDING START]
Q: Is there anything special about our planet?
A: This is not the scheduled communication time.
Q: I am an independent researcher asking this question in a personal capacity, hoping to learn if there are any special aspects.
The item remained silent for a while. Based on data analysis later, it was inferred that the object was scanning Yang Mingwu at that moment.
A: The gravitational acceleration on your planet is too high.
Q: 9.98 meters per second squared? That's not a particularly large number; we've discovered many massive celestial bodies with gravitational accelerations far exceeding that.
A: It is too great for the soul. As a result, your souls are tightly bound within your bodies.
Q: Do you mean that the soul actually exists?
A: I have no intention of answering that question.
Q: Sorry. Will this become a limitation for our interstellar travel?
A: I have no intention of answering that question.
Q: In your civilization, are souls free from the body?
A: I have no intention of answering. You have one last question.
Q: Please let me think for a moment.
Several minutes of silence.
Q: Can you still leave our planet?
A: I cannot answer your question.
[RECORDING ENDED]
After the recording concluded, the task force located Yang Mingwu and took him into custody, and attempted to contact SCP-CN-3668 to offer an apology. The item did not respond. The appropriate disciplinary action against Yang Mingwu is currently under review by the relevant departments; please refer to the intranet for further details.
