Special Containment Procedures
FOR UP TO DATE INFORMATION REGARDING CONTAINMENT OF SCP-9798, PLEASE ONLY REFER TO THE LATEST UPDATE TO THE TEMPORARY CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES
OUTDATED
SPC-9798 is to be confined to the property of SCP-9798-A located at 16 ████████ ██████. At least one caregiver should be present at all times within the bounds of the property. Access to the property and interactions with SCP-9798-A are discouraged, but those with sufficient clearance levels may access the property and the SCP
Addendum-01: SCP-9798-B is to be contained in the same way as SCP-9798-A on the same property until a more permanent containment procedure can be devised.
Description:
SCP-9798 is a localized dimensional anomaly (LDA) located within the cranial cavity of a human male designated SCP-9798-A1.
MRI scans indicate that the interior of SCP-9798-A’s skull contains no brain tissue, instead appearing as an empty void terminating at the spinal cord. Despite the lack of brain SCP-9798-A does not appear to be lacking in any cognitive function, able to engage fully in conversation, problem solving and motor skills that would be standard for a man of his age and education. Any attempts to gain access to the inside of SCP-9798-A’s skull by means of surgery have been vehemently objected to by SCP-9798-A. SCP-9798-A has since agreed to a surgery in which access to the contents of his skull will be accessed.
The anomaly manifests externally as a blue luminescent disc approximately 20 cm in diameter. This disc acts as a gateway into the LDA. It appears above SCP-9798-A’s forehead while the subject is asleep and believed to be dreaming. A localized, 20 cm magnetic field surrounds the disc. Any matter entering this field is instantaneously transferred into the LDA. An identical disc will be present within the LDA and will close upon SCP-9798-A waking up.
Ontology
The most unique feature about the LDA is its ontology.2. Baseline reality's ontological structure is particle-based, whereas the LDA is 'string’-based. These strings vibrate at different frequencies3, and the frequencies at which they vibrate determine their physical properties in the same way electrons and protons do of elements in baseline reality. These strings can be 'woven' together to form larger and more complex structures resembling molecules.
ADDENDUM A.1 — SCP-9798-B INITIAL CONTACT INTERVIEW
SCP-9798-B4 is a character from the Evergreen pentalogy known simply as the Knight. It is native to SCP-9798 and followed researchers Ndlovu and White through the gateway back into baseline reality, with no stated ill intention and has remained cooperative. It is noticeably more lucid than most other creatures from the LDA.
Interview between SCP-9798-B and Dr. Breytenbach, conducted approximately three hours after SCP-9798-B followed Doctors Ngluvo and White through the LDA Gateway. Subject displayed no visible injuries.
ADDENDUM A.2 — B QUESTIONS -A
SCP-9798-B requested a one-on-one sit-down with SCP-9798-A. -A and -B have been increasingly hostile towards one another following their first encounter and the complex relationship between the two. A private, one-on-one discussion between the two was hoped to have allowed for some breakthroughs, but it appears to have only strained them more.
The following is an audio log of their interaction.
ADDENDUM C.1 — INTERNAL CORRESPONDENCE
Correspondence between Dr. Ngluvo, Dr. White and Dr. Breytenbach regarding disappearance of matter obtained from SCP-9798. Possibly the first recorded instance of a SCP-9798-C event. The lack of functional keycard readers is also mentioned in an official capacity and pertains relevance to the events of the 15th of August.
ADDENDUM B.1 — FIRST SCP-9798-C INCIDENT
Unraveling is a phenomenon in which infected particle-based matter becomes unstable while transforming, during which the newly formed strings "fray", causing a chain reaction in which the larger lattice and fabric structures collapse and the object of which they composed cease to exist. This phenomenon has been dubbed SCP-9798-C.
At this point in time, it is unknown what triggers a -C event to occur. Exposure time does not appear to be relevant.
On 08/08/20██, the first known incident involving a SCP-9798-C event occurred. Following the event, SCP-9798-A and B have been moved to site 63 with updated containment procedures. Below is Dr. Wessels incident report recounting the event, a picture of the remains as well as small excerpt from an interaction between Dr. Wessels and a psychiatrist regarding the event.
Incident Report concerning SCP-9798-C event
Dr Wessels was encouraged to have an appointment with the site psychiatrist, to which he reluctantly agreed. Below is an expert of their conversation regarding the SCP-9798-C event.
« Approximately 8 minutes and 21 seconds into discussion »
Dr. Mthemba: I know this might be difficult to discuss but we need to talk about the incident that happened today.
Dr. Wessels: I figured as much. I don’t have long though so let’s make this quick.
Dr. Mthemba: That doesn’t sound like the healthiest way of approaching this.
Dr. Wessels: No, it probably isn’t but this is uncharted territory
Dr. Mthemba: Tell me about it.
Dr. Wessels: You read the incident report, not much more to tell.
Dr. Mthemba: <sigh> You have witnessed someone you knew experience a very gruesome death and you’re telling me you feel nothing?
Dr. Wessels: Of course I feel things. Don’t start that game. I just don’t have much to expand on what I have already written down. It was horrible to witness. I had to wipe her blood off my clothes, it was like a sprinkler the way they both were flailing their arms and legs. Rolling on the ground as they just… dissolved. The worst part might have been dash A’s reaction to his dog. I have never heard a scream so viscerally full of pain.
<2 seconds of silence>
Dr. Wessels: There you go are you happy? Do you want me to describe it in even more detail?
Dr. Mthemba: No thank you that was good enough… You seem very calm about it though.
Dr. Wessels: I have to be. I need to continue my work. As you say there has been an incident and we need to focus on containing whatever this could possibly be.
Dr. Mthemba: It’s just-
Dr. Wessels: Before you say anything, yes I will show emotion about this, just later and in the comfort of my own home. I will go home to my cat and scream and cry myself to sleep. But right now I have a job to do and I do not want anyone else to experience what they and I have experienced…
… so please just clear me for work so I can prevent your death too.

ADDENDUM D.1 — INTERNAL MEMO 1
The following Memo was distributed to all Site 63 staff regarding the involvement of ETTRA. The sudden escalation of an anomaly as potentially serious as SCP-9798 was deemed to require additional support, especially for what is considered to be a small and remote facility, underequipped to handle a potential catastrophe on this scale.
Site 63 Internal Memo (07/08/20██)
ADDENDUM I.1 — TECHNICAL BRIEF AND SITE ADDITIONS
The following contains information relating to the technical details of the SRI machine as well updated signage and containmnet cell regarding SCP-9798. While not necessary information, access is still desired by Director Wessels in case of future reference.
ADDENDUM A.3 — ETTRA INTERNAL REVIEW
The following log is from a meeting between ETTRA Director Nkosi and senior staff of site 63 regarding the mismanagement of the site. The meeting was interrupted by the power outage and containment breach incident of August 15th.
ADDENDUM B.2 — SECOND MASS SCP-9798-C INCIDENT
Below is an attachment of the internal memo distributed by Director Wessels the day he assumed the role, as well as a sub-document pertaining to incident report EDRAS-09, regarding the civilian casualty.
ADDENDUM A.4 — CONTAINMENT CELL INTERACTION
Below is an except taken from the containment cell footage of SCP-9798-A and -B following a breakthrough in their relationship and an easing of tensions that should make future containment easier.
