Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-9525 is to be contained in a bunker and covered with an opaque cloth at all times. Visual observations of SCP-9525 are to be forbidden, all memories of SCP-9525 visuals are to be treated with amnestics, and all recordings of SCP-9525 visuals are to be deleted. Audio inside the bunker is to be recorded and monitored at all times.

SCP-9525-X instances are to be immediately removed from the SCP-9525 bunker and contained separately. New SCP-9525-X instances are to be ascribed new special containment procedures as needed.

SCP-9525-A is to be contained in an aviary without other birds. Introduction of SCP-9525-A to other wood thrushes is to be forbidden.



Description:

SCP-9525 is a window that measures 61.0 centimeters wide and 91.4 centimeters high. SCP-9525 shows its observer a visual of a monotone, dark, empty space. SCP-9525 reflects light as silicon dioxide glass does.

SCP-9525-X instances are anomalies whose creation is attributed to interactions with SCP-9525.

SCP-9525-A is an anomalous wood thrush, Hylocichla mustelina. SCP-9525-A hunts and kills other wood thrushes and destroys wood thrush eggs. SCP-9525-A is immune to injury, disease, and death. SCP-9525-A is not known to clean itself, eat, drink, sleep, or attempt to reproduce. SCP-9525-A is known to scream at other animals.

May 2, 2025 A male wood thrush sang. A male wood thrush jumped into the shed, attacked SCP-9525 for a minute, then jumped out of the shed. A male wood thrush sang. Confirmed that baseline male wood thrushes sang at dawn and dusk in their territories during mating season.
May 4, 2025 A male wood thrush jumped into the shed. A female wood thrush followed him into the shed. He attacked SCP-9525 for a minute and she watched his behavior. He watched her behavior while she looked at it but did not attack it. They both jumped out of the shed. Confirmed that baseline wood thrush males tended to act territorial while females tended not to.
May 6, 2025 A female wood thrush jumped into the shed. She looked at SCP-9525, then jumped past it. A minute later, she jumped past it while carrying fibrous materials and jumped out of the shed. Confirmed that baseline female wood thrushes built nests on their mates' territories using fibrous materials and mud.
May 13, 2025 A male wood thrush jumped into the shed and looked at SCP-9525. He attacked it for an hour, then jumped out of the shed. Found no confirmation that baseline male wood thrushes skipped their dawn or dusk singing and attacked windows instead. Requested an inspection of SCP-9525 containment.
May 20, 2025 A male wood thrush jumped into the shed and attacked SCP-9525 for an hour. Meanwhile, a female wood thrush jumped into the shed, looked at him, and then jumped out of the shed. When finished, he lethargically jumped out of the shed. Found no confirmation that baseline male wood thrushes stopped singing in their territories altogether and attacked windows at dawn and dusk instead. Requested a reevaluation of SCP-9525 containment procedures.
May 23, 2025 A male wood thrush jumped into the shed, attacked SCP-9525 for an hour, then jumped out of the shed, all while exhibiting lethargic movement. Confirmed that baseline birds' health deteriorated while they repeatedly attacked windows.
May 26, 2025 A male wood thrush lethargically jumped into the shed and looked at SCP-9525 for an hour. Meanwhile, a female wood thrush jumped into the shed, looked at him, then jumped past him. A minute later, she jumped past him while carrying an insect and jumped out of the shed. Found no confirmation that baseline male wood thrushes stopped gathering food to their mates' nests and stared at windows instead. Requested containment and veterinary care for the wood thrushes.
May 29, 2025 A male wood thrush lethargically jumped into the shed. He looked at SCP-9525 and attacked it. A sudden, loud, high pitch sound occurred and the audio and video surveillance equipment failed. Alerted security to a possible containment breach of SCP-9525.

At 5:40 AM on May 29, 2025, the audio and video surveillance equipment for SCP-9525 failed with a sudden, loud, high pitch sound.

At 5:50 AM, Foundation personnel found SCP-9525-A soaked in blood, stood beside a fallen bird nest that held broken wood thrush eggs. Foundation personnel placed SCP-9525-A in a cage for transport. SCP-9525-A screamed at Foundation personnel during its transport.

At 5:55 AM, Foundation personnel approached SCP-9525 with their eyes closed. Foundation personnel covered SCP-9525 with an opaque cloth and then opened their eyes. Foundation personnel discovered a male and female pair of wood thrushes dead and mutilated beside SCP-9525.
