Open brain surgery.
Junior Researcher Maria Cortez undergoing surgery.

Item #: SCP-9190

Object Class: Thaumiel

Secondary Class: Yesod1

Special Containment Procedures: All information relating to SCP-9190 has been acquired by the Foundation. Personnel who believe in an afterlife are barred from enacting SCP-9190. All individuals about to undergo SCP-9190 are to be prepared for their voyage into the future, and, if necessary, armed.

To prepare for SCP-9190, the following procedures must be performed before the first incision is made:

1. A metronome is placed near the feet of the subject, set to 107 BPM

2. A circle of gunpowder is laced around the table containing the subject

3. A carcass of a Talpa europaea2 is placed beneath the subject's head

4. Seven drops of human blood are applied to the subject's face.

5. [DATA EXPUNGED]

6. All medical tools are to be dipped in a jar of blended Aedes aegypti3.

7. All churches within 2,000 miles are to be closed until the procedure is finished.

If you are scheduled to undergo SCP-9190, please contact Project Advisor Sasha Wright.

Description: SCP-9190 is a form of surgery capable of transferring a human subject into the future.4 Personnel sent into the future by SCP-9190 are unable to call back or return to the past; this process is typically used to enforce the presence of the Foundation within periods of time that would otherwise lead to the Foundation ceasing to exist.

The exact process behind SCP-9190 is not scientifically understood.

Video Log:

Date: 11/24/2014

Subject: Junior Researcher Jeremiah Elbertson

Supervising Lead: Senior Researcher Rodrick Kessler

[BEGIN LOG]

00:00: Standard preparations are made. Baseline vitals recorded.

00:05: Subject consumes a mixture of dog milk, ground up bismuth, cerebrospinal fluid, and salt water.

00:07: Subject requests to be reminded what "deployment" entails. Staff are instructed not to answer.

00:13: Subject is restrained using a combination of zip ties and Kevlar rope. Subject appears distressed. This is ignored.

00:18: Subject has three triangles drawn on his stomach with black sharpie.

00:23: First incision is made along sternum. Internal cavity slightly exposed.

00:27: Several more incisions are made in order to fully open the chest cavity. Subject tries to hold back tears, but fails.

00:29: The metronome is reset.

00:34: Subject attempts to escape from their constraints. He is gently affirmed that everything will be okay, and is told to fall asleep.

00:39: The subject's ninth and tenth rib are removed. The ribs are then placed into a small tray, before being consumed by one of the surgeons present. Subject is then thanked.

00:50: A tube is then entered into the subject's stomach. This tube proceeds to extract the aforementioned liquid.

00:54: Subject is then force fed the previously described mixture.

01:02: A bonobo heart is placed within the subject's chest cavity, which is then sealed up with a mixture of glue and staples.

01:16: Subject's mouth is then opened. A dim light is seen deep in his throat.

01:24: The metronome is reset.

01:26: Subject's scalp is cut and their skull exposed. Subject's face is covered in a cloth.

01:33: Subject is hand fed an ortolan. Subject is not allowed to spit up any bones or feathers.

01:40: Subject's skull is opened. His brain appears to be covered in soil. This soil is removed.

02:01: Subject ceases all attempts at movement. His breathing grows heavier.

02:08: Several triangles are drawn on the subject's brain. These triangles are then cut out. Brain matter is consumed.

02:21: Cloth is then placed on the subject's exposed brain. When the cloth is removed, his skin has completely covered his brain. The triangle markings are still present.

02:30: Subject is given a kiss on the lips. A single tear rolls down his face.

02:32: The lead surgeon self terminates via gunshot.

02:33: All other surgeons remain still. The metronome continues.

03:40: The room darkens completely. The only light source now comes from inside the patient's chest. It beats irregularly.

03:37: The metronome is turned off.

03:03: His chest expands. Someone is attempting to escape.

02:00: Subject disappears.

[END LOG]
