Description: SCP-9139-J is the inability for SCP-9139-1-J, also known as Senior Researcher Jack Alrated, to write memorandums, addendums, classification justifications, business e-mails, or subresearcher notes for the SCP Foundation.
Following an extensive battery of tests4, it has been determined that this inability to perform necessary, career-advancing, work is not borne out of mundane causes.
To summarize the Initial SCP-9139-J Classification Logs, a chart has been attached:
| Mundane Explanation | Disqualifying Factors |
|---|---|
| SCP-9139-J is the result of laziness, irresponsibility, or ineffective time management on the part of SCP-9139-1-J | Due to the past performance of SCP-9139-1-J, an ability or skill deficit is not a sufficient explanation for SCP-9139-J. Furthermore, SCP-9139-J demonstrates the ability to use these skills in areas outside of official SCP Foundation-based work. |
| SCP-9139-J is a luck-based phenomenon that prevents SCP-9139-1-J from being mentally capable of finishing bureaucratic work. | SCP-9139-1-J remains capable of work that is essentially the same as what falls under the purview of SCP-9139-J — the sole determining factor is the involvement of the SCP Foundation in any capacity. |
| SCP-9139-J is an infohazard which solely affects SCP-9139-1-J's ability to recognize the SCP Foundation in a professional capacity. | SCP-9139-1-J remains capable of defining and discussing the SCP Foundation with the capability of a Senior Researcher with Clearance Level 4. SCP-9139-1-J is also adamant that they desire to perform their previous duties for the SCP Foundation, suggesting an awareness of how to execute said duties. |
| SCP-9139-J is a previously undefined neurological condition which affects the ability of those afflicted with it to perform actions that they associate with professional work. | SCP-9139-1-J possesses the ability to perform household and rote work, including basic chores, creative writing, and programming. As a result, it is the judgement of Head Researcher Stephen Lynch that SCP-9139-1-J is capable of conceptualizing and executing the basic ideas and conceptions related with his former work. |
Addendum 9139.1-J:
On 07/12/25, SCP-9139-1-J requested an interview with Dr. Mark Dunn. A transcript of this interview is provided below.
SCP-9139-1-J: Hello, Doctor. I trust that your way here's gone well?
Dr. Dunn: It did, it did, thank you for asking. Now, what did you call this meeting for, 9139?
SCP-9139-1-J: Oh, I wanted to… uh….
Dr. Dunn: …You did have a reason, didn't you?
SCP-9139-1-J: Wait, wait, I've got it somewhere…
<SCP-9139-1-J removes a scrap of paper from their pocket and places it on the table. Dr. Dunn smirks and looks at it with apparent exasperation.>
Dr. Dunn: Did you really-
SCP-9139-1-J: -Yes, I wrote it down on a piece of paper!
Dr. Dunn: Was… that necessary?
SCP-9139-1-J: Yes it was; I didn't want to forget what the point of this meeting was.
Dr. Dunn: Wait — why would you forget that? As I recall it, it's not easy to set up and succesfully obtain a voluntary interview.
SCP-9139-1-J: Well, I know, but the point is, the reason I wanted to have an interview is because…
<SCP-9139-1-J looks at the paper in horror.>
Dr. Dunn: Well?
<Dr. Dunn takes the scrap of paper from SCP-9139-1-J. He frowns.>
Following the events of Addendum 9139-J.1, Dr. Dunn requested a copy of the Voluntary Interview Form submitted by SCP-9139-1-J. No text on the form was intelligible, including the preprinted questions.
The effects of SCP-9139-1-J are currently being investigated for a potential increase in scope.
