DESCRIPTION

---

SCP-9105 is the designation for a performance relating to pop-punk band Good Intentions and all personnel located in the █████ Amphitheater located in Billings, Montana. Due to the relatively unknown nature of the anomaly, related information regarding the band in question will be listed below.

Good Intentions was originally formed in 2016 as a relatively obscure garage rock band. Their first album¹ achieved notoriety with several music critics online, while receiving little mainstream success. However, following their second album's release,² Good Intentions would begin to break more into the public consciousness. A noted online music review site would state that “while amateurish in composition, the violent and oppressive musical style of The Junk Drawer mixed with well-prepared and biting lyrics makes this a great listening experience for the more politically-inclined music fan.”

A dedicated fan-base had begun to stratify at this point after accumulating from late 2016 to mid-2018, and a few accolades were heaped on Good Intentions, though still from minor sources. There would be a slightly larger gap between the release of albums two and three than that of albums one and two, but this generated far less controversy than the album itself and the circumstances of its release.

This third album³ was slightly marred by a tragedy two months prior. Good Intentions bassist Perrin Gyle was reported missing by his girlfriend on July 15th, 2020. Reports on his disappearance were not comprehensive, and Good Intentions itself stated publicly that Gyle had left a late recording session in anger, driving away presumably to head back home but never arriving. At the time of writing, he has not been recovered.

Gyle had previously stated his dissatisfaction with some of the band’s financial backers in the past months on social media, but the band represented his memory fondly afterwards and included an extensive dedication to Gyle in the album itself. However, this breakup, disappearance, and the circumstances around it were not the sole divisive elements of it gets cold in november. Lead singer and guitarist Matt Raptor⁴ claimed that the album was meant to be “…more experimental, not in terms of what we were saying, but how we were saying it.”

While it gets cold in november did indeed blend different genres and modes of singing for its tracks, listeners among the band’s existing fan-base by and large felt disappointed by the seeming lack of depth to the music. But in leaving behind some of these rougher edges in their songs, Good Intentions managed to garner far greater sales and far broader touring opportunities, and more mainstream critics reacted positively to the album as a whole.

The next studio release⁵ came out much more quickly compared to the past three, and was lauded in the mainstream, yet further exemplified the divide between Good Intentions in 2016 and Good Intentions in 2020. Instructions was a return to form in terms of timbre and lyrics, though (according to fans) far less pointed and directed in its political and social commentary. Regardless, certain innovations in instrument use and some of Raptor’s newer vocal techniques elevated Instructions in the eyes of the general listening audience. Meanwhile, the former fanbase remained in uproar and disquiet.

Not long after this release, Good Intentions would go mostly quiet in the public sphere. The final interview before this period with Raptor had him claim that “This is going to be one of our biggest moves yet. We’ve got a lot of expectations riding on us, and I’m gonna make sure that we deliver on them…” Nine months later, the band would both release their fifth album⁶ and announce the beginning of their tour throughout the entire United States.

The band enters the stage to an enthusiastic crowd. Matt waves at the crowd before approaching the microphone.

Matt: How's everyone doing tonight?

The crowd roars. Matt smiles as his eyes scan across the crowd. It appears he is looking for someone.

Matt: Geez, it's been… what? Our seventh show so far? Eighth? Either way, thank you to everyone coming out here, even with it being a bit late n' all…

The noise settles. He coughs softly, adjusting the microphone.

Matt: Alright, alright, I don't want to stretch this prelude on too much, you guys have heard it all before. But, uh, first things first I want to say thank you to Lockheed for sponsoring this tour, and also thank you to Gyle. It's been… it's been so weird without him, and…

Matt continues to look through the crowd. He does not seem to find what he is searching for.

Matt: Sorry, sorry, gettin' all emotional, I know he would be happy, seein' us here with a crowd of people. So, uh, without further ado… Here's “Knee Deep in the Waste Basket”!

The band starts to play the aforementioned song, with the crowd cheering. The performance continues per usual.

The song concludes, and the crowd cheers. Matt continues to look into the crowd.

The next song begins, titled “Once In My Life”. The band starts the song before Matt is able to prepare, leading him to mess up the first few lines of the song.

Matt laughs before he continues the song. He smiles, although he messes up several lines.

After the song ends, he looks back into the crowd, sweating.

Matt: Just want to say, uh, thank you, for- for coming tonight, again. We, uh, we wanted to play something special for you guys.

The band starts to play the next song, which is untitled. The song is notably more lo-fi and hostile, comparable to Good Intentions‘s earlier work. While the crowd appears to be not entirely pleased, many people are still cheering.

Halfway through the song, the backdrop changes.

The crowd's cheering grows louder. The song continues for three more minutes.

By the time it ends, all members of the band appear to be heavily sweating. However, Matt gestures at the band to continue playing. They begin another song.

The crowd's cheering continues as the band continues to sing. Another untitled piece begins. The entire song is instrumental.

Several minutes into the song, sounds of gunfire can be heard coming from the stage. The crowd seems to believe this is part of the show.

The music slowly rises in intensity.

Matt: This isn't just about us, you know. This is- this is about what we built together. All of us, me, you, the-

He stops mid-sentence. The others keep playing.

Matt: You've all learned so well.

The song slowly comes to an end. Matt wipes sweat off of his forehead.

Matt vomits on the stage. The crowd turns quiet as he falls to his knees.

Thirty seconds later, he stands up, giving a weak smile.

Matt: Sorry, it's… let's keep going. Come on.

The band plays another song. The lyrics are completely impossible to decipher due to Matt slurring his words. The band is entirely focused on playing music.

Matt quivers, coughing onto the stage. It is unknown what is coughed up.

Gunfire and explosion noises continue, now layered beneath the instrumental track.

The band has been playing music for ten minutes at this point. The audience grows visibly distressed.

The walls of the auditorium grow darker. Several members of the crowd cough.

The stage lights gradually fade out. The only remaining light is that of the backdrop.

Matt begins to drone repetitively into the microphone as the backdrop grows redder.

Matt: Serve, serve, serve, serve, serve…

A choir of screams are audible. It becomes apparent that the screams are not that of the crowd.

Sulfuric residue forms across the stage surface. Instrument strings vibrate independently of touch.

Matt: Serve, serve, serve, serve, serve, serve, serve, serve…

The crowd continues to scream as well. A figure is visible behind Matt, though he does not appear to notice it.

The band continues to play as members of the crowd attempt to flee. The doors have been sealed off by a thick crust of scoria.

At the center of the floor, something opens. The crowd surges back as the tiles buckle inward, revealing a pit rimmed with toothlike structures.

The camera shakes as attendees begin to fall forward into the chasm.

Matt continues to repeat himself. Tears are streaming down his face.

The pit begins to expand.

Matt turns around.

Matt: Perrin?
