Special Containment Procedures: SCP-9101 has been placed in standard humanoid containment. Additional security measures should be taken if needed.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-9101's containment security has been upgraded. Increased observation is recommended due to the nature of its ability.

Updated Containment Procedures: In addition to standard containment protocols, SCP-9101's restraints should be checked for defects or signs of tampering at irregular intervals throughout the day.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-9101's current state of unconsciousness is to be maintained indefinitely through intravenous anesthetics.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-9101 is to receive surreptitious oxytocin therapy several times a day, always in close proximity to Junior Researcher Margaret Moriyya.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-9101 is to receive narcotic pain relief every 12 hours. SCP-9101's nerve block catheter should also be kept fully supplied with non-opioid numbing medication.

Updated Containment Procedures: SCP-9101's body should be regularly monitored for anomalous activity.

Updated Containment Procedures: Attempts at containment are ongoing. See Addendum 9101.3.

Description: SCP-9101 is Edmund Watts, a 52-year-old repairman who is apparently incapable of remaining within any dynamic for an extended period of time. This effect extends to specific locations, relationships, and states of being. While SCP-9101 is capable of using its ability directly, the effect may also manifest when SCP-9101 is unconscious, distracted, or otherwise unable to provide direct input.1

Addendum 9101.1: Containment Attempts and Testing
Due to the nature of SCP-9101's ability, containment and testing are considered to be simultaneously performed.

Attempt Result Notes
Standard Euclid humanoid containment Containment failure During a rare lapse in observation, SCP-9101 simply walked out of its cell. It was recovered in the site cafeteria while eating a bagel.
Standard Keter humanoid containment Containment failure SCP-9101 once again walked out of its cell despite continuous observation. It was immediately recovered and returned to containment without incident.
Physical restraints in addition to standard containment Containment failure SCP-9101 was recovered outside containment without restraints. When asked, it claimed that they were "defective" and had "just fallen off".
Chemical restraints in addition to standard containment Containment failure SCP-9101 was found outside the door to its cell, still unable to move. It regained motor functions marginally faster than expected.
Psychological manipulation Containment failure Despite an intensive hypnotic and chemical campaign to convince SCP-9101 that it had fallen in love with its head researcher, it managed to leave the facility and was recovered while trying to hitchhike on a service road. Previous assessments clearly underestimated its mental fortitude.
Amputation Containment failure Due to an administrative error with SCP-9101's medication regimen, the amputated limb was partially regenerated.
Neutralization2 Containment failure SCP-9101 regained consciousness through unknown means several days later. Psychiatric counseling was offered and rejected in no uncertain terms.
Adaptive Containment Protocol Ongoing See below.

Addendum 9101.2: The Adaptive Containment Protocol

In an effort to reduce financial and personnel costs associated with containing particularly difficult anomalies, the Foundation has authorized the use of the Adaptive Containment Protocol, a dimensionally-agnostic thaumaturgical system with three primary goals:

1. Design a structural system that can contain the target anomaly
2. Construct and maintain said system
3. Identify and record the target anomaly's pattern of attempted breaches to simplify further containment

While the overarching ACP system draws from the same codebase and power source for each assignment, every anomaly is assigned its own Adaptive Containment Entity to personalize its containment. Each resulting ACE's database is quarantined to prevent ideological or cognitohazardous contamination in either direction.

The specific ACP assignment containing SCP-9101 was initiated on September 9th, 2025.

Addendum 9101.3: ACP-9101 Logs
Due to the self-modifying nature of the Adaptive Containment Protocol, logs are provided asynchronously and may not match established Foundation formatting.

SCP-9101: Screw this.

SCP-9101: Hello? Is anybody there?

ACE: Hello there.

SCP-9101 cranes its neck as it tries to identify the source of the voice, its thick glasses almost falling off. It fails, of course.

SCP-9101: Hey, so we both know that this is futile. Why even-

ACE: Hello there.

SCP-9101: Yeah, hello.

ACE: Calibration is in progress. I appreciate your patience.

SCP-9101: Oh, wonderful. It's a bot.

SCP-9101: Uh, operator? Representative?

ACE: I am fully operational, thank you. I am representing myself.

SCP-9101: Okay. Great. Goodbye.

SCP-9101 leaves.

SCP-9101 is in a smaller room.

SCP-9101: Ahhh, shit. Am I going to be crushed?

SCP-9101: Hello?

ACE: Hello there.

SCP-9101: Fucking…okay.

SCP-9101 leaves.

SCP-9101 is in an inverted room.

SCP-9101: Okay, what is this? Hello?

ACE: Hello the-

SCP-9101: Yes, yes, hello, what the hell is going on? What is this room?

ACE: As previously mentioned, I am calibrating myself.

SCP-9101: And who are you?

ACE: I am your Adaptive Containment Entity! You can call me-

SCP-9101: So you are a bot. Okay.

SCP-9101: If your bosses or owners or whatever ask, tell them you did your best. I'm out.

SCP-9101 leaves.

ACE: Containment calibration paused.

[BEGIN LOG]

SCP-9101 is standing outside of the containment room. SCP-9101 is on the side of a default structure overlooking the ACP Gestalt. SCP-9101 is contained.

SCP-9101: What the fuck?

SCP-9101: What the fuck?

ACE: You have left the calibration area, SCP-9101. May I return you to the calibration area?

SCP-9101: What is that? Is this real? Where am I? What the fuuuuuck is that?

SCP-9101 sits down on a nearby default structure and stares down at the ACP Gestalt.

ACE: I'm afraid that I am incapable of answering some of your questions.

SCP-9101: What? Which?

ACE: This is real. This is also not real. You are here. My systems are temporospatially agnostic.

SCP-9101: That's not an answer.

ACE: Yes. My apologies.

SCP-9101: And what is that?

ACE: That is the ongoing gestalt of the Adaptive Containment Protocol.

SCP-9101: It hurts my eyes.

ACE: I believe it is actively damaging your cerebral cortex upon viewing.

SCP-9101 hurriedly averts its eyes.

ACE: Proper calibration should establish my environs.

SCP-9101: I'm leaving. I'm not-

ACE: I don't recommend it.

ACE: There are several thousand levels of distinct structure between here and there. It would not be feasible to leave more than one at a time. It would not be a simple process.

SCP-9101: Great. Fuck.

ACE: I am noticing that you use a lot of expletives.

SCP-9101: Yeah, well, I'm a handyman. I've got to have something to say when shit goes wrong.

A moment of silence. Far below, the Gestalt susurrates.

ACE: May I continue my calibration?

SCP-9101: Do I have a choice?

ACE: I don't understand the question.

SCP-9101 is returned to the containment room. Containment calibration is resumed.

SCP-9101 is standing outside of the containment room. The ACP is attempting to portray the thing he is standing on as anything other than a default structure. It oscillates wildly between looking like a mountain and looking like a skyscraper. Occasionally, it looks like an enormous child, gazing out into the distance through glasses as thick as a building. SCP-9101 doesn't seem to notice this.

Below, the ACP Gestalt [IMAGERY FAILURE], its [IMAGERY FAILURE] [IMAGERY FAILURE] [IMAGERY FAILURE] sea. Around the base of the default structure, though, a forest has been generated that extends for several miles, the trees devolving back into default structures where they approach the Gestalt. From his elevation, SCP-9101 probably cannot see anything more than a mass of red and yellow.

SCP-9101 looks over the edge of the default structure. SCP-9101 sighs.
