Special Containment Procedures: There is no known way to contain SCP-8789. As such, the best way to mitigate its effects is informing and medicating potential or current victims. After traumatic events, survivors are to be given free therapy and medication as needed if to be kept alive. Furthermore, information on SCP-8789 should be given as part of training (or equivalent) for classes C & E, site staff, field personnel, and administration persons. Information cannot be given to people inside an SCP-8789 event due to the later discussed abilities and strategies used by the anomaly & technical limitations. If an SCP-8789 event is detected by chance, messages could theoretically be sent using AM or SSB, MF or LF radio, but it's not practical as it is one-sided and the target of the creature (addressed as "the target" from now on) is irrational.

Description:
SCP-8789 is believed to manifest itself when any traumatized due to anomalies individual, is currently irrational and is at an unknown yet sufficient distance from any rational human and specifically when near an open TV or radio.

The first part of the attack is the manifestation act. The creature appears outside the view and knowledge of the target, commonly outside the vehicle or home. From this point forward, until it leaves, there is limited communication from the outside to the inside or vice versa, as the creature creates a sort of invisible Faraday cage around the target.

The second part is the hijack/luring act. The creature uses the antenna inside it to broadcast radio and TV signals of common regional bands. For radio, it uses the FM band but notably excludes the AM band (believed to be due to Faraday cage limitations and/or biological antenna limitations). For TV, it broadcasts the common regional bands for television, commonly VHF (bands I and III) and UHF (bands IV and V). It uses these wireless protocols to transmit messages designed to make the target walk, run, or jump. The broadcasts have not been recorded yet due to the effectiveness of the Faraday cage on those bands.

The third part is the killing act. As the messages are playing, the creature waits to feel vibrations from the ground. It is believed to be equipped with a biological version of a seismograph that is filtered through its brain to detect human footsteps or jumps. The creature is notably lacking a head and visual, auditory, or any other sensory input (other than what is mentioned). As such, any animal, machine, or anomaly that creates the vibrational signature of human jumps or walks will be attacked. Only during this act will a person see the creature and have the opportunity to take a picture. A picture has been taken of it once despite the challenges (see Addendum 8789.1).

The creature goes away instantly if the target calms down and becomes rational, or if a rational human comes inside the unknown distance. Only after it has left does the Faraday cage dissolve, making tracking during the exit impossible using radar.

Addendum 8789.1:
After a class-D was involved & bore witness to a breach in site-[REDACTED], a mental health professional characterised the condition of the class-D as critical. Due to this, the foundation decided to use them as a vessel to extract a picture of SCP-8789.

Class-D was taken in an outcast abandoned house.
They strapped a camera on their head & made it record continiously. Outside, radars constantly scanned the house. As soon as the radars got blocked the foundation knew the creature was in its first act & backed away to avoid interfering. Once the radar signal bounced again (signaling the cage dissolving), researchers escorted by 2 containment specialists, as per protocol, went to investigate the aftermath. They found an almost destroyed camera. To their disappointment the Class-D was looking at the floor most times and only ever looked at the creature once before it tore them to pieces.
