Special Containment Procedures: Any and all Foundation equipment located on or near the Mariana Trench Challenger Deep seabed is to be removed until further notice.
For fear of further biological contamination, any organic material produced by SCP-8759 is to be thrown back into it unless directed otherwise. All inorganic materials are to be brought to the nearest Foundation site for further study.
Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 is responsible for the observation of SCP-8759 in addition to the cleaning up of all organic materials that were produced by SCP-8759.
Description: SCP-8759 is a biological, radioactive, throat-like fissure located on the Mariana Trench Challenger Deep seabed. All along the edge of SCP-8759 is an anomalous source of heat visually resembling fire. This heat source does not require oxygen to burn and constantly emits a yellowish glow. The length of the fissure measures approximately 750 meters. Attempts to measure the width of the fissure have been difficult as SCP-8759 constantly expands and contracts in response to organic SCP-8759-1 and foreign objects.
SCP-8759-1 is the designation given to all the materials produced by SCP-8759. SCP-8759-1 are a wide range of materials that were produced by SCP-8759 following the event that occurred on 12/1/2025.
The following is a list of all materials that were produced by SCP-8759 so far:
- A deep blue painted, heavily damaged, pure iron dome that measures 2 meters in radius and features a singular red stripe down the middle.
- A deep blue painted, heavily damaged pure iron flap that measures 7 meters in length.
- Dozens of deep blue painted, pure iron scraps of various sizes.
- Three leathery, bioluminescent, tail-like limbs that feature three large spikes at the end of each of them. The limbs vary in size, measuring 6, 12, and 13 meters in length.
- A leathery, bioluminescent dorsal fin that measures 13 meters in length and features a large stab wound on the lower half.
- Dozens of portions of unidentifiable body mass of various sizes.
All SCP-8759-1 have trace amounts of radiation and show extreme heat-related damage all along their structures. The inorganic SCP-8759-1 show no anomalous properties other than the inability to rust despite being composed of pure iron. All of the organic SCP-8759-1 appear to originate from the same unidentified being as all materials share mass traces of DNA and all secrete the same substance. Consequently, due to the nature of this substance (hereby referred to as 8759-B), the handling of organic SCP-8759-1 has proven difficult and therefore must be carried out carefully.
8759-B is a blue, bioluminescent substance that is highly toxic to both the environment and any living being that comes into contact with it. The properties of 8759-B make it highly acidic to rare earth metals and allow it to stain on any material; in addition to this, when exposed to air, the substance produces a thick vapor that rapidly infects any and all who inhale it. Should any individual be directly exposed to 8759-B, they will undergo a series of symptoms before inevitable death.
Within the first 2 hours of exposure, the infected will display no symptoms. After 3 hours of exposure to 8759-B, the infected will experience a severe cough which is then shortly followed by the coughing up of a blue liquid. Despite being visibly identical to 8759-B, this liquid does not share the same properties of 8759-B, however, it is still highly infective. The infected continue coughing until they eventually begin to violently vomit up the aforementioned liquid. The vomiting continues until the infected have died from either dehydration, choking, or internal tears.
Attempts to enter SCP-8759 have been inconsistent so far as any attempt at getting close to SCP-8759 typically results in the subject either closing up or outright rejecting any foreign body by launching it out of the fissure.
As of now, only organic SCP-8759-1 have been observed completely entering SCP-8759.
Discovery: SCP-8759 was discovered on 12/1/2025 following an explosion that occurred on the Mariana Trench Challenger Deep seabed. The origin of the explosion is still unknown, nonetheless it still destroyed all nearby equipment and presumably created the anomaly known as SCP-8759 and its 8759-1 Instances.

NOTICE: As of 2/13/2035, SCP-8759 has now been reclassified as Neutralized following several years of inactivity; containment class status is pending.
