Description: SCP-8745 is not a bird.
It possesses no wings, no feathers and no beak. It does not fly. It cannot build a nest. It does not vocalize in chirps, calls or songs. It does not lay eggs. It bears none of the associated traits of a bird.
Birds do not have fingers. Birds lack teeth. Their grin does not stretch beyond the confines of their biology. Birds are pure, untainted creatures.1
Despite this, all humans exposed to SCP-8745 will over time become certain that SCP-8745 is a bird. This effect occurs regardless of prior knowledge, cognitive resistance training, or neurological anomaly. Even humanoids incapable of forming beliefs will eventually respond to SCP-8745 as though it is a bird.
There is no known method of preventing this effect. Amnestics and intensive re-education may temporarily restore lines of correct thought. However, relapse upon re-exposure is inevitable.
Junior Researcher Cassidy Alethea was originally assigned to archival tracking and correction due to her apparent immunity to SCP-8745's effects. Current testing is ongoing.
Addendum Occultus: SCP-8745's effect on human cognition has mutated.
Affected personnel no longer simply assert that SCP-8745 is a bird. Instead, they exhibit confusion, distress, and, in some cases, hostility when presented with the statement that SCP-8745 is not a bird.
During interviews, subjects have requested clarification on why SCP-8745 is "being mislabeled", often citing its "obvious" avian nature. As time goes on, questioning on why so many of Site-08's resources are being allocated to the SCP-8745 project become more and more frequent. In three recorded incidents, personnel attempted to rewrite documentation related to SCP-8745.
SCP-8745's effect has also spread beyond the confines of Site-08. As of the time of this writing, it has now affected all nearby sites and continues to spread at an increasing pace.
A proposal has been submitted2 to both revise and broaden the reach of current treatment protocols.

Addendum Iconoclast: Current estimates indicate that >99.99% of the SCP Foundation has now succumbed to SCP-8745's effect, leaving Junior Researcher Cassidy Alethea as the sole unaffected personnel.
She will continue her duty to the Foundation, even as everyone else has fallen. She is safe and away from the thing that is not a bird.
