Item #: SCP-8534

Object Class: Concluded

Special Containment Procedures: All surviving documentation of SCP-8534 is currently under Foundation custody. Attempts at recreating SCP-8534 are underway.

Description: SCP-8534 was the football1 match played on 14/09/1978 between amateur clubs Eastbridge Athletic and Harrow Vale FC at the now-demolished Eastbridge Municipal Stadium. The final score of SCP-8534 was 16.4 - 3.

This score was accepted by all the players, coaching staff, and every single spectator. All attendants displayed confusion regarding why the interviewer was concerned and considered the score unusual. Further investigation shows no influence of a memetic or infohazardous anomaly; SCP-8534 did, without a doubt, occur. Football games are recorded using whole numbers, thus making a .4 completely impossible. While recordings of the match do exist, no member of the research team is able to pinpoint the exact moment that the .4 was scored, only that, before the end of the game, it was successfully achieved.

In order to understand SCP-8534, the Foundation assembled a panel consisting of 102 mathematicians, referees, former professional players, and researchers from 28 separate departments working for the Foundation. Their conclusions are reproduced below.
