The corridor in which SCP-6161-EX is reported to occur.
Item #: SCP-6161-EX
Object Class: Explained
Special Containment Procedures: Personnel working on Basement Level-36 are to report any unusual occurrences to the floor supervisor; currently Dr. Hargrain Felder.
Description: SCP-6161-EX is a potential anomalous phenomenon affecting a stretch of corridor on Basement Level-36 of Site-35. Individuals passing through the area will occasionally report various muffled noises emanating from somewhere nearby. So far these have included:
- Loud thumps
- Dripping of liquid
- Metallic scraping
- Electronic zapping
- Screaming
- Sobbing
- Pleading for help
Numerous hypotheses on the cause of SCP-6161-EX have been proposed, these have included: noise from other levels echoing through ventilation ducts, sleep deprivation as a result of long hours, mental instability as a result of working for the Foundation, occupation by one or multiple spectral entities, or a leakage of hallucinogenic spores from a nearby containment chamber.
With all due respect, I find this whole thing kind of ridiculous. These men and women spend weeks (if not months) at a time holed-up in cramped accommodation almost a mile underground. On top of that, they're exposed to horrors beyond what the human mind can comprehend on a nearly daily basis. They see the spilling of blood more than the sky itself, hear the wails of the damned more than the voices of their loved ones. I'd like you to show me someone who wouldn't start jumping at shadows after too long.
I'm not saying I won't keep taking the reports. I'm just saying don't be too surprised if nothing ends up coming of this
Dr. Felder
Addendum 6161-EX.01: On 2009/1/18, Basement Level-36 was sent into lockdown following the sudden containment breach of SCP-████. MTF Phi-43 were shortly dispatched to terminate SCP-████ and extract all survivors. Surveys taken after the fact placed the death toll at 78.
During the MTF's confrontation with SCP-████, a section of wall within SCP-6161-EX's area of manifestation was decimated, revealing a large, previously unknown space behind it. This space is not marked on any floorplans; the leading theory is that it is actually a remnant of the original building layout that was sealed during renovations. Whilst any doors or windows seem to have been plugged up decades ago, a number of crawl spaces have been found, connecting the space to other rooms throughout the site. One such crawlspace terminates at a concrete hatch, hidden under a rug in Dr. Felder's office.
Objects and furniture scattered across the space imply it to have been in use for a prolonged period of time before discovery. At the far-most corner is a large desk-like counter top, largely taken up by a variety of chemistry equipment. Whilst traces of several substances were detected, it seems this equipment was primarily used for the production of histamines. Nearby is a standard-issue medical bed, fitted with a series of leather straps. Next to the bed is a wheeling metal tray, holding an array of drills, scissors, syringes, and other medical tools. Other objects found across the space include:
- Rope
- Cables
- Scraps of fabric
- Meat hooks
- Car batteries
- Gasoline canisters
- A large metal cage
Most notably, human remains in various states of decomposition could found throughout the space. Genetic testing has connected several of the bodies to D-class subjects that had been marked as deceased, missing, or otherwise wiped from Foundation records.
Dr. Felder was originally reported as one of the casualties of the containment breach, however an actual body was never recovered. Furthermore, these reports were found to have been made several hours before any surveys were conducted.
All passageways into the space have been sealed with concrete. A manhunt for Dr. Felder is currently underway.
