SCP-3633-JP

Item #: SCP-3633-JP

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3633-JP is to be contained in a low-risk item storage vault at Site-81██, normally kept in a sealed state. Usage testing involving anticipated REM sleep periods exceeding 12 hours requires approval from the Site Director.

Description: SCP-3633-JP is a woolen pillowcase measuring 43×63 cm. Its surface features multiple embroidered designs depicting sheep, and its interior is filled with wool as cushioning material.

When SCP-3633-JP is used to induce sleep, the subject falls asleep within a maximum of 5 minutes and naturally awakens after approximately 7 to 8 hours of sleep. During the REM sleep phase within this period, the subject experiences a dream involving consistent visual and auditory stimuli proportional to the duration of REM sleep induced by SCP-3633-JP — in standard testing, this is calculated as approximately 1.5 hours per use.1

Summary of the Subject's Dream (REM sleep duration in square brackets)

[0:00] A pasture fenced off by tall white fences can be seen. The sky holds two or three patches of clouds and the sun. The subject is seated on a white wooden bench, with one person closely acquainted to them seated to their left. Beyond the fence lies a hill, and the ground is covered with what appears to be naturally growing grass, likely from the Poaceae family. The subject remains seated while engaging in casual conversation with their friend. It is a quiet space; no audible sounds other than their voices can be perceived.

[0:30~1:30] During the conversation, the friend points toward the hill. As the subject looks in the direction indicated, they can see a single white sheep descending the hill. The sheep stops near the fence and begins grazing on grass.

[1:30~3:00] Similarly, multiple sheep come down from the hill and graze near the fence. The friend initially pointed at each sheep as it appeared, but as the number increased, they stopped reacting to each individual sheep's arrival.

…

…

[3:30~4:30] One of the sheep that appeared (often the first one) stops grazing, turns toward the hill, and bleats. The other sheep respond by bleating in unison.

[4:30~5:00] The bleating forms a steady rhythm. The subject feels a slight vibration, and the friend interprets it as a sign that some group of entities is approaching from the hill.

…

[5:00] A flock of several dozen sheep approaches from beyond the hill and trots toward the viewpoint. Upon joining the sheep near the fence, the flock begins grazing on the surrounding pasture. At this point, the subject notices that the vibrations from the hill have not subsided even after the sheep have settled; they have instead intensified slightly.

[5:00~5:30] Flocks of sheep keep appearing from beyond the hill and joining the group before the fence. The number of sheep forming the new flock increases each time they appear. Some of the sheep from the original group continue to bleat, their volume becoming unnaturally loud compared to the number bleating. The subject feels a sense of unease, describing it as 'the sheep's voices seem to be getting increasingly closer.'

[5:30~6:00] The total number of sheep visible exceeds one hundred, and the subject feels a slight sense of being overwhelmed by the sheep crowded against the fence. In contrast, the friend expresses a favorable impression of the sheep, ignores the subject's attempts to stop them, stands up from the bench, and approaches the fence. The friend actively engages with the sheep by observing the flock near the fence, touching their wool protruding beyond the fence, and stroking the heads of nearby sheep. From this point onward, all sheep face and direct their gaze toward the subject's viewpoint.

…

…

[6:30~7:30] The area beyond the fence is densely packed with sheep to the point where the ground surface cannot be seen. From the viewpoint, it appears as if multiple sheep necks are protruding from a woolen ground, all staring intently at the subject. The friend returns to the bench and sits down next to the subject. After returning, the friend eagerly tries to steer conversations with the subject toward sheep-related topics, only for their speech to gradually become incoherent until meaningful conversation becomes impossible.

[7:30~9:00] The density of sheep crowding the fence increases further, with some unable to keep their feet on the ground and climbing onto other individuals. The sheep on top begin tearing off and eating the body tissue of those beneath them instead of grazing on the pasture. The friend no longer speaks meaningful sentences, only mumbling the word 'sheep' over and over.

…

[9:30~9:45] Amid the bleating of the steadily growing flock of sheep, a creaking sound emerges. The subject approaches the fence to investigate the source of the noise while avoiding contact with the sheep as much as possible. The subject concludes that the creaking sound is caused by the pressure of the sheep against the fence, and perceives that the fence is severely degraded and could easily collapse under impact.

[9:45~10:00] While continuing the observation, the subject notices several sheep clearly attempting to break through the fence by repeatedly colliding with or gnawing at it. Having been constantly stared at by the sheep and nearly bitten by them, the subject develops a fear of staying in place and hastily returns to the bench.

[10:45~11:00] All sheep simultaneously let out a prolonged bleat lasting several tens of seconds. The friend seated to the subject's left synchronizes with them, emitting a shout similar to a sheep's bleat. The subject's entire field of vision shakes violently, and a large cloud of dust rises behind the hill.

…

[11:00~11:59] Countless sheep emerge from behind the hill, running down the slope and colliding with the flock near the fence. The impact crushes some sheep while others are thrown into the air. The sheep continue surging forward uninterrupted even after the collision, with many more thrashing towards the fence. The density at the fence line is nearly at its limit, and the fence creaks louder each time a sheep is pressed against it.

…

[12:00] The fence separating the viewpoint side and the hill side collapses.

…

[12:00~12:30] Numerous sheep gather at the broken section of the fence and push through it. Upon breaking through, the sheep collectively charge toward the subject. In nearly every recorded case, the subject rises from the bench to flee toward the opposite side. However, their body suddenly feels heavy, making them feel as though they cannot move forward no matter how hard they run. The sheep steadily close the distance, trampling the fence, the bench, and the subject's friend in their path. Ultimately, the lead sheep bites the subject's clothing and brings them tumbling onto their back. Surrounded by loud bleating and countless stares, the subject's vision blacks out.

…

…

[12:30~] Complete loss of vision. It is clearly distinguished from non-REM sleep as the subject's consciousness remains vivid and they perceive a constant bleating of sheep.

…

…

…

[15:00~] The subject's vision returns. The scene before them resembles that observed during initial exposure to SCP-3633-JP, but careful observation reveals that all objects composing the landscape — the fence, clouds, sun, bench, hill, and grass — are actually sheep gazing directly at the subject's viewpoint. A sheep wearing the clothing of the subject's friend is seated to their left. At one point thereafter, the subject attempts to speak to the sheep, presumed to be their transformed friend, only to have their voice drowned out by the loud bleating of sheep occurring nearby. Following several repetitions of this pattern, the subject becomes aware of multiple circumstantial clues, such as their limbs transforming into those of a sheep, the bleating emanating from their own vocal cords, and their reflection in the friend's eyes bearing a striking resemblance to a sheep, thereby concluding they have transformed into a sheep.

The moment the subject in the dream perceives that they have transformed into a sheep, the subject's head in reality bursts due to internal pressure. No bleeding or brain matter dispersal occurs with the cranial rupture, instead an equal mass of wool is ejected from the cranial cavity into the vicinity. It has been confirmed that individuals who inhale a certain quantity of these scattered wool fragments (2nd-generation subjects) also begin experiencing dreams identical to those induced by SCP-3633-JP.

Update: Genetic testing of the wool within the cushioning material revealed that, in addition to typical sheep DNA, an unknown genetic sequence not matching any existing organism was present at a consistent rate. This sequence is henceforth designated as SCP-3633-JP-α.

The proportion of SCP-3633-JP-α present in wool from the ruptured head of a 1st-generation subject is higher than that found within SCP-3633-JP itself. If an individual who became a 2nd-generation subject through inhalation of this wool suffers a head rupture, a greater amount of SCP-3633-JP-α is detected in their wool compared to that of a 1st-generation subject. Current evidence indicates that the amount of SCP-3633-JP-α detected in wool from an nth-generation subject increases proportionally with the value of n; that is, the greater the number of generations derived from SCP-3633-JP, the higher the proportion of SCP-3633-JP-α contained in wool originating from a subject's head.

In wool samples exhibiting increased SCP-3633-JP-α concentration, genes displaying sequences intermediate between sheep genes and SCP-3633-JP-α have occasionally been detected. This suggests that genes present in sheep wool may have mutated into SCP-3633-JP-α as a result of noise generated during the repeated process of SCP-3633-JP-induced dreaming.

Furthermore, multiple cases have been confirmed where, as generations progress, the appearance of the 'sheep' appearing in affected individuals' dreamscapes frequently deviates from the typical appearance of sheep. Research is currently underway to investigate the correlation between these morphological deviations and the increasing proportion of SCP-3633-JP-α genes detected in the wool.
