Item #: SCP-2925-JP

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All SCP-2925-JP instances are to be recovered and incinerated except for samples. SCP-2925-JP-A instances are to be contained in a standard containment storage unit.

The people affected by SCP-2925-JP and their surroundings are only to be placed under Level 1 surveillance, as it is presumed that they will become sufficiently in line with normality over time.

Description: SCP-2925-JP is the collective designation for clothing items manufactured and sold at ████████, a clothing store located in the town of █████, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. SCP-2925-JP instances include a wide range of items including casual wear, shoes, school uniforms, business suits and work clothes. SCP-2925-JP instances were used by almost all residents of █████.

Individuals wearing SCP-2925-JP are subjected to specific psychological effects depending on its type, which are summarized below.

  • Casual wear
Men's wear fixes the wearer's gender identity as male, and changes the wearer's personality to be domineering and egocentric. Women's wear fixes the wearer's gender identity to female, and changes the wearer's personality to introverted and devoted. These properties are also consistent in the following SCP-2925-JP instances.
  • School uniform
The wearer becomes highly motivated in their schoolwork and submissive to adults. In particular, they become almost unconditionally obedient to adult SCP-2925-JP wearers.
  • Professional attire
The wearer becomes highly motivated to perform their job and almost unconditionally obedient to their supervisor or senior SCP-2925-JP wearer. They also do not leave their profession voluntarily.

These effects become irreversible with continued use of SCP-2925-JP. While there are individual differences among wearers, the effects are generally permanent after approximately twenty years of continuous wear.

SCP-2925-JP-A is the collective designation for the items of equipment used to produce SCP-2925-JP. SCP-2925-JP-A ranges from machinery such as fabric cutting machines to small tools such as scissors, and is individually numbered from 1 to 76.

Arimoto: So what are your opinions about clothing?

Shiraji: My answer is this; clothing is not merely a way of dressing up a person. They change one's life and make it more dignified. In fact, the way to become a better person is to become as fine of a person as the clothes you wear.

Arimoto: You are saying that the clothing is what allows a person to grow through it?

Shiraji: Yes, in the first place, human beings become self-disciplined and aware of their role only when they have clothing for themselves. It would not be an exaggeration to say that your lab coat is what defines you as a researcher.

Arimoto: I partially agree. So the clothing you make is based on your own vision?

Shiraji: Yes, I, or should I say my family, has been providing people with life-changing clothing for generations. The Shiraji family's clothing has always guided everyone at █████. This is why █████ is such a respectable town that everyone is so envious of. I am proud of this.

Arimoto: You are aware of the anomalous nature of the clothing you make, correct? Is it part of your vision that they force many people to behave against their own will?

Shiraji: Ultimately, human beings are weak creatures. What we can control by our own will is very limited. So I think it is only right that we should be worn by our clothing and live appropriately before we become corrupted.

Arimoto: …Thank you very much, the interview is concluded.

Yuzuki: I've been like this ever since I can remember. But I was mostly dressed in women's clothes, so I really didn't have many opportunities to speak like a man, like I do now.

Arimoto: Was it your parents' decision to raise you as a woman?

Yuzuki: I don't think my parents knew this at all. While I was wearing those clothes, I totally thought of myself as a woman. I interacted with my parents and friends as a woman all the time, lived my life as a woman and even… fell in love, as a woman.

[The subject is silent for a while]

Arimoto: Yuzuki-san, if you feel uncomfortable, we can talk some other time.

Yuzuki: No, let me tell you this. The only time I reverted to being a man was when I would strip myself naked to take a bath. In the bath, what I thought on my own will while I was a woman comes to me as a man. I've never been attracted to a man, despite what I look like outwardly. And yet… there is this feeling inside of me… that I love him.1

Yuzuki: I don't love him, but the feeling is there. I had no idea what to do… It was contradictory, just inside of me, and it made me feel sick and scared. But I couldn't talk to anyone about it. When I put on my clothes, I'm a woman again. But if I tell my parents naked like now, they would just slap me and say it's not lady-like.

Yuzuki: Then I had no choice but to endure. No matter how uncomfortable and scary I felt, it was only when I was taking a bath. Once I put on those clothes, I'd become a woman again anyway. Then I could get rid of this icky feeling. I'll be able to love him properly again. That's why I had been living my life giving up being a man. For years.

Arimoto: So what exactly prompted you to run away from home? Is it related to what you just told me?

Yuzuki: … █████ is such a stodgy old town that I was betrothed to that guy. My parents arranged him for me. It's the kind of town where, well, that kind of culture still prevails. Except during bath time, I as a woman was so happy about it. After all, I was going to be with the man I had always loved.

Yuzuki: And since my family is quite prestigious, I even prepared a beautiful kimono for the wedding. I was told that it was made at that dressmaker's shop as well. If you see it, you'll know how absolutely stunning it is. I was thrilled too, so I was in a happy mood the whole time.

Yuzuki: Then I took off my clothes to take a bath as usual. The moment I did, I got struck with terror at once. What I had always endured was nothing compared to what I felt that day. I almost thought I was going to die. The reason immediately hit me: it was that kimono. Even in casual clothes, I would become a woman who I am not. What would happen if I wore something like that? I'd completely turn into his woman then. Not a woman, his woman. That will be when I cease to be me at all.

Yuzuki: I thought that if I stayed here any longer, they'd make me wear that thing and I'd be done for, so I ran away. I was still naked, but I didn't have time to worry about it because if I put anything on, I'd never be able to turn back then anyway. Good thing it was late and there were no people around. And at least when I'm naked, I know I'm definitely a man.

Yuzuki: You know, I can finally live as a man now. I don't want to go back to that town. Please, let me stay here. Let me remain a man.

Arimoto: … We will consider it. The interview is concluded.
