SCP-2805

There's lots of uncreative people in this world, son. They concentrate on these drab ideas and get angry when people try to introduce new ones to them.

Has anyone here actually even been near Epcot? Every once in a while I'll read in the papers about a new immigration wave of noncons displaced by "Disney" starting up a new wave of ethnic cleansings as it adds another factory. Never a word about what the place looks like, how large it is, or what the factories are even for. Its not like it exports anything besides music and movies.

Lucky you I stumbled onto this post, I actually am friends with one of the guys "Disney" let visit. I won't name any names, but they said its fine if I tell people about it cause it increases the mystique to have rumors like that floating around about you.

According to them, Epcot is about 430,000 square kilometers of city proper surrounded by an area twice the size of that covered in vast hydroponics farms, solar arrays, semi-noospheric artworks, and hive outposts where "Disney's" workers stay. The city is a convoluted mess of streets stacked ontop of each other with extensive metro tunnels and aboveground monorails. Residential areas, commercial districts, and industrial zones are all folded into each other to make the daily commutes (hypothetically) less than ten minutes for any given thing a person could need. "Disney" is a huge fan of European designs and so large sections of the city copy Enlightenment era Spanish and Italian architecture with the high tech its been working on sewn into it in ways that divert attention away from them. You'll see holographic displays, hardlight bridges, nanite drone repositories, etc. everywhere but they're all designed to blend in with the traditional stone and cloth work so you marvel more at the individual craftsmanship than the scientific-side.

Course, as lavishly furnished as everywhere is, Epcot remains closed because large sections of it are unfinished. According to my source "Disney" is still developing most the technology it wants to shove into it so the version of the city visitable now is just practice and prototyping in preparation for the real deal. Its why, most, people can't enter. It doesn't want them seeing the unfinished product and getting disappointed. (Which is insane because if you saw the pictures my buddy brought back)

Forgive me if I'm mistaken (I'm a pure), but wasn't Epcot supposed to never be finished? Like the whole point was that it was being continuously built upon as technology advanced. At least, that's the impression I got from my corporeal friends who were around when the real Disney was alive.

Enlightened Exile

That was when he was mortal. When he became oneiroi he was able to see the horizon and he could orient himself properly for the first time. Probably changed what Epcot was supposed to be in his mind, now that he knew where the limits actually lied.

Careful with those pronouns, you don't wanna catch what it has.

But that is an interesting thought, admittedly. Problem with that idea is, why is the projected completion date that far out? I mean, "Disney," corrupt or not, is a pretty brilliant being. It shouldn't take that long to finish Epcot.

Enlightened Exile

I appreciate the concern, but I have nothing to worry about ;)

As for that question; likely someone's getting in his way. Its a big project, and there's dicks out there who just hate to see people succeed at things.

Addendum 2805.2
First Interview

Foreword: At an unclear date in 1970 while Agent Smith was conducting undercover work in [REDACTED], California, USA, he was contacted by SCP-2805 over a landline in the SCPF safehouse. A surveillance parasite planted on SCP-2805 during its last meeting with the Foundation Collective allowed this conversation to be recorded.

At the time, SCP-2805 was in a heavily reinforced skyscraper at the center of SCP-2805-♣ while the dreamspace was being assaulted by a force of avian entities composed of star dust with features resembling various species of water fowl. This force was led by a triplet of 200 meter long pelecanus occidentalis7 which continuously emitted deafening jazz music used to coordinate the other entities.

✹ BEGIN RECALL ✹

[SCP-2805 rests on top of a large, silken bed. Its two rear pairs of limbs are folded under its body. Of the two pairs up front, three limbs are occupied with productivity. Sketching up new character designs and street maps for expansions to the city. The circular office around it has a high built ceiling and oak paneling covering the walls. Behind it is a painting of the man it once was and the wife it still loved, even if she'd moved on. Ahead of it, the front half of the office is one large floor to ceiling window. Curving around to let it see beautiful Epcot gestating. At least, that's what its for. Right now several thousand brilliant glowing storks and ducks were pecking and scratching at it trying to get inside.]

[SCP-2805 uses its free hand to pick up a the receiver of a landline mounted directly to his desk. The words Bell Collective are printed on the handle.]

SCP-2805: Hello? Am I coming through?

Agent Smith: Who is this? How did you get this number?

SCP-2805: Its Walt. You're one of the men who brought me into "containment." I'm sorry for calling without forewarning. Apologies if this is a bad time for you, I just needed to get into contact with someone and you're one of the few people who I knew would know enough to be of use.

Agent Smith: I, uh… [Sounds of shuffling paper] This is… as fine a time as any I suppose. What are you calling me about?

[The distant sounds of pecking on the glass is growing louder and steady more aggressive.]

SCP-2805: I wanted to talk about a project of mine. The Florida project, Epcot. Do you know of it?

Agent Smith: You were working on it before you died. Evidently for a time after, as well.

SCP-2805: Ah, I assumed you had read through my conversations. Good to know!

Agent Smith: I hope that isn't an issue.

SCP-2805: Not at all! I need folks like you people. Curious, ambitious, and unapologetic.

Agent Smith: You don't sound very agitated about your containment.

SCP-2805: Ideas can't be contained, son, I'm as free as a bird, for now.

[SCP-2805 can be heard snickering as it glances up from its work]

Agent Smith: For no-

SCP-2805: Epcot is meant to be different my boy. A place where all of man's dreams can be realized. As much as I love Lilian and Roy, I'm afraid our arrangement was always doomed to fail. Try as they may, they're stuck as being what they are. Limited, uncreative. They didn't, couldn't, share my vision. Try again and again as I did to elaborate on it to them. Its really a boon you found out about us when you did!

Agent Smith: That's… Good to hear I guess. But why call me?

[A cracking sound is heard as the glass gives just slightly under the assault. SCP-2805 frowns and gets up from its desk to make its way to the door. It walks through an unremarkable but entirely empty office hallway with carpeted floors that smells of disinfectant. The cord on the phone continues to stretch without resistance behind it as it goes. A constant hum of incandescent lights can be heard against the noise of the attackers, who sound like a distant thunder storm.]

SCP-2805: Because, my dear boy, Lilian and Roy aren't my only options. For Epcot to become real, I need to make arrangements with likeminded individuals and I believe your organization is filled with them!

Agent Smith: You… wish to work for us?

SCP-2805: With you, not for you.

Agent Smith: I'm afraid we can't see to the construction of Epcot, Mr. Disney. Our organization does not operate publicly and to attempt to intervene in your company would be outside the bounds of our mission statement.

SCP-2805: I never intended to ask such a thing. I simply wish to offer the use of my "anomalous," is that the word your folks use, properties to help you in your projects. You see, I have a messaging network built on the backs of the uncreative and the parasites who would abuse the work of people like us. Your people have the power and resources necessary to realize some crazy things. Give me a direction, and I'll give you a map to get to your destination. If you understand what I mean.

[SCP-2805 enters an elevator and hits a button for a sub-basement floor. The sounds of loud jazz is reaching its crescendo.]

Agent Smith: I… will ask my supervisors about it.

SCP-2805: If you could do that quickly, yes.

Agent Smith: But, what, exactly, would you want in return?

SCP-2805: There's lots of uncreative people in this world, son. They concentrate on these drab ideas and get angry when people try to introduce new ones to them. I met some a long while back that I thought were better than they really are. I made an agreement that was most necessary to get to where I am now, but I reneged on it, because I realized just how terribly unimaginative they were.

Agent Smith: Uhuh?

SCP-2805: Needless to say, they weren't fans of that. This is where you come in. The better your technology gets, the better you get at containment, the harder it is for them to collect. I'm a single man and, ambitious as I am, my goals aren't that threatening to what they are up to. I'm making it as cumbersome as I can, but ultimately I'm waging a losing war. If they ever get the time to turn their full attention on me, well it won't be long before they get what they want out of me.

Agent Smith: You want to hide in our shadow?

SCP-2805: Exactly.

✹ END RECALL ✹

Postscript: Following this conversation the O5 Council and O5 Convocation both were contacted regarding SCP-2805's offer. The SCPF used personnel from the Department of Oneirology as mediators to produce proper documentation of the terms of the agreement. The Foundation Collective deployed agents directly to the borders of SCP-2805-♣, where they were received by instances of SCP-2805-A, who held the negotiations on SCP-2805's behalf. In both cases, SCP-2805 was able to arrange a minor research project whereby it could prove its usefulness and credibility. Details of the agreements reached have been locked behind Level 5 security clearance and are only available to members of the Negotiary Lobe.

creativity is a gift

a small fragment of god left rubbed off on us like oil you leave on the glass when you touch it

to create like they did

to make another know "i was here"

even if its small

even if its crude

it says you existed, and it reminds people of you

and that makes it beautiful

never stop making

almost time for work

have a good day

i love you
