Interviews with SCP-1788-JP-1 are to be conducted as necessary, with rewards provided commensurate with the information offered. Depending on the condition of SCP-1788-JP-1 during such interviews, counseling or physical examinations may be conducted. These procedures are not necessary for SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances. Except during the aforementioned procedures and experiments, SCP-1788-JP-1 and SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances are to remain confined within SCP-1788-JP.
Description: SCP-1788-JP is a near-complete copy of the latter half of the 16th sheet through the 18th sheet from the first volume of the picture scrolls commonly known as the Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga ("Animal-person Caricatures"). Although its content is depicted with extremely high fidelity matching the original, the Foundation age-determination team has determined this object is a replica created around 1960.
The frogs and rabbits depicted within SCP-1788-JP (respectively designated SCP-1788-JP-a and SCP-1788-JP-b) possess the ability to traverse between the pictorial realm within SCP-1788-JP and reality. This is achieved when any human traces the outline of a drawing within SCP-1788-JP with a finger. When this occurs, the corresponding drawing within SCP-1788-JP disappears. When "summoned," SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances do not manifest as semi-anthropomorphic creatures depicted on the sheets, but instead as biologically accurate Japanese tree frogs (Hyla japonica) and Japanese hares (Lepus brachyurus), respectively. SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances are believed to possess no means of traversing into reality other than being traced by a human finger, and remain stationary while within SCP-1788-JP. Upon the death of an SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instance, its carcass immediately disappears, and the corresponding drawing reappears within SCP-1788-JP.
SCP-1788-JP-a is the collective designation for five frogs depicted within SCP-1788-JP, which manifest in reality as Japanese tree frogs. SCP-1788-JP-a instances possess significantly superior mobility compared to ordinary Japanese tree frogs. They possess a vague understanding of verbal communication and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in covert activities, including predicting human fields of vision, employing step-by-step approaches to reach target locations, and creating deliberate noise to serve as decoys. The most notable deviation from non-anomalous Japanese tree frogs is that SCP-1788-JP-a instances can produce small cylindrical tubes resembling hollowed-out bamboo, through which they breathe while submerged underwater2; it is unclear where they conceal these tubes, as they appear to materialize spontaneously. While Japanese tree frogs inherently possess extended underwater activity times, this behavior further extends their endurance.
SCP-1788-JP-b is the collective designation for four rabbits depicted within SCP-1788-JP, which manifest in reality as Japanese hares. Similar to SCP-1788-JP-a instances, they possess significantly superior mobility compared to their non-anomalous counterpart species, and demonstrate a higher level of human language comprehension than SCP-1788-JP-a. Instead of engaging in underwater activities, SCP-1788-JP-b instances exhibit exceptional agility in traversing elevated outdoor terrain at high speeds3, demonstrating proficiency in leaping between rooftops and scaling smooth vertical surfaces. Several members of the research team assert that SCP-1788-JP-b instances can manipulate the adhesive properties of their extremities to enable high-speed wall-running, a hypothesis that has yet to be conclusively proven.
SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances consistently exhibit hostile attitudes toward the Foundation. Whenever summoned by Foundation personnel, they will typically attempt to escape containment; if this proves impossible, they will attempt to hide, attack, make insulting gestures, or commit suicide. Most of the known records regarding SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances' capabilities were observed during their containment breach attempts. Based on experiments, it is believed that SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances have no limit to the distance they can travel from SCP-1788-JP. However, they appear to have a finite operational lifespan in the real world, and will die within approximately two days regardless of the safety of their environment.
SCP-1788-JP was discovered and contained during an investigation of a residence near [REDACTED], where it was strongly suggested to be associated with several anomalous phenomena/items. Upon investigation, the residence was found completely unoccupied. Several documents discovered alongside it suggest the residence was previously used by members of GoI-834 ("Mujin-Getsudō-Shū"). While the Foundation has placed the residence under covert surveillance, no contact from anomalous individuals or groups has been detected as of writing.

At 11:51 PM on 2015/11/16, a human male (designated SCP-1788-JP-1) suddenly appeared within the pictorial realm of SCP-1788-JP. Events occurring over the subsequent ten minutes resulted in the loss of three SCP-1788-JP-a instances and all SCP-1788-JP-b instances from containment. A Foundation surveillance camera recorded the entire course of the incident, and it was decided that the security measures for SCP-1788-JP would be temporarily reinforced. The following is an excerpt from the surveillance camera footage.

Afterword: Although Security Staff ██████'s drawing on SCP-1788-JP was later confirmed to be an unauthorized action, disciplinary measures have been suspended given the view that it contributed to mitigating the impact of the incident.
Since this incident occurred, SCP-1788-JP-1 has remained within SCP-1788-JP. Similarly to SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances, SCP-1788-JP-1 can traverse between the pictorial realm within SCP-1788-JP and the real world (though not of its own volition). When in reality, SCP-1788-JP-1 manifests as an adult Japanese male of slightly above-average build. While SCP-1788-JP-1 does not exhibit the significant increase in physical capabilities seen in SCP-1788-JP-a/-b instances, it demonstrates highly refined hand-to-hand combat and stealth skills. SCP-1788-JP-1 consistently maintains an uncooperative or hostile attitude towards the Foundation.

Addendum-1: Foundation investigations have confirmed that the physical manifestation of SCP-1788-JP-1 in reality matches the appearance of Yoshimura Kōnosuke, known by his ring name Chōjū Giganto ("Superbeast Gigant"), a member of the regional wrestling organization "████████████ Pro-Wrestling" based in the city of ██████, Wakayama Prefecture. SCP-1788-JP-1 was reported missing coinciding with the occurrence of Incident 1788-JP-01, and is believed to have entered SCP-1788-JP at that time. The last known sighting of SCP-1788-JP-1 was within ██████ Station, where surveillance cameras recorded him conversing with a black-hooded individual as they briefly passed each other. The Foundation implemented standard disappearance cover-up procedures for SCP-1788-JP-1's public identity.
Addendum-2: Through numerous interviews conducted with SCP-1788-JP-1, limited information regarding SCP-1788-JP itself and GoI-834 (“Mujin-Getsudō-Shū”) has been obtained.
