Hello Dr. Charles,
Your version of the SCP-1229 file is ready for you to read. It was last edited by Researcher Hubert as per your specifications.
The Foundation hopes your testing on SCP-1229 goes well today.
SCP-1229-16.
Item #: SCP-1229
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The only individual permitted to conduct testing of items expelled by SCP-1229 is Dr Charles, Senior Foundation Researcher (Testing Department). Each day, the newly discovered SCP-1229 item will be brought to Dr Charles by two other research staff acting as assistants. Given the unknown nature of the items expelled by SCP-1229, security is to be stationed outside the testing room at all times.
The two researchers must remain present throughout the duration of testing. Testing is to halt immediately if, for any reason, one of these researchers is required to leave the room. As long as the assistant researchers remain present, testing is to be continued at the prerogative of Dr Charles and will cease only on his command.
Description: SCP-1229 is a wormhole, measuring 0.2m in diameter, which appeared beneath Site-19 on 07/08/2025. The cause of the wormhole's appearance is currently unknown; it is noted the wormhole manifested on the same day as a site-wide security breach.
Each day, SCP-1229 will expel an item, designated SCP-1229-#. There is currently no discernible pattern behind the items expelled. Dr Charles is in the process of formulating a method through which the next item can be predicted.
Due to their extradimensional origins, thorough testing is required to ascertain if each object has anomalous properties. An abridged log of items and testing conclusions is given below:
| Item # | Description | Designation |
| SCP-1229-4 | A plastic sphere with a pattern of white and black five-sided shapes. | NON-ANOMALOUS |
| SCP-1229-16 | A metal object. Three arms are situated around a central axis. Object can be made to spin. Senior Researcher Charles noted its similarity to the Foundation logo. | NON-ANOMALOUS |
| SCP-1229-47 | A wooden rod, measuring 15cm. On one end of the rod, numerous hairs have been inserted. After multiple rounds of counting, testing confirmed there were 2,671 bristles. | NON-ANOMALOUS |
| SCP-1229-76 | A plastic, translucent container. At the top of the container, a circular piece of plastic can be unscrewed to open it. Contents of the container were 2L of an orange liquid. Liquid had both a sweet aroma and taste. | NON-ANOMALOUS |
The latest test log is given below:
Testing date:
Senior Researcher: Dr Charles
Assisting Staff: Dr Amanda Hubert, Dr Hector Chow
[Hubert and Chow enter the cell from the east, Hubert carrying a box containing SCP-1229-98.]
Hubert: Good Morning, Doctor Charles.
Charles: Good Doctor Hubert. Doctor Chow. It is a good day. The testing is to begin.
Chow: We have the latest item from SCP-1229 here.
Charles: We shall continue the Foundation's mission.
[Hubert walks to a metal table in the center of the cell, and places down the box. She attempts to open the lid, but the thick material of her gloves hinders her ability to do so.]
Charles: Let me help you.
Hubert: Thank you.
[Hubert steps back. Charles approaches the table.]
Charles: And what are we having today…
[Charles reaches into the box and retrieves the object.]
Charles: Aha!
[Charles holds the item, a multicolored cube, so that Hubert and Chow can see.]
Chow: What do you think it is, Doctor?
Charles: Please take notes on my findings, assistant researchers. I will proceed to testing.
[Charles rotates the object in his hand.]
Charles: Object is…square. six sides. Each side is formed of smaller squares. Each square is color.
[Charles passes the object between his hands, staring at it intently.]
Charles: White…Green…Red…Yellow…
[Charles looks to Hubert.]
Charles: This side reminds us of your hair, Doctor Hubert.
Hubert: Th-thank you, Doctor Charles.
Charles: Two sides remain. Please note them down too.
[Charles' gaze returns to the item.]
Charles: Blue and…a difficulty. Doctor Chow, what do you make of this?
[Charles begins to walk over to Chow.]
Chow: I can see from here, Sir. We wouldn't want any particles on my body to compromise the integrity of the item or your testing.
[Charles stops in his tracks, adhering to protocol. SCP-1229 items should be handled by the Senior Researcher alone, and not assistants.]
Charles: An excellent observation, Doctor. What would you call this then?
Chow: I would say that's orange.
Charles: Orange! Yes. Right you are. Have you written those down Doctor Hubert?
Hubert: Yes. I have white, green, red, yellow, blue, and orange. Would you like to check the object again to ensure those are correct?
Charles: Yes yes. The testing must be thorough.
[Charles turns the object in his hands, conducting thorough testing of each side. Duration of this test lasts approximately nine minutes.]
Charles: I am satisfied those results are correct. Doctor Hubert, please ensure they are mentioned in the file.
Hubert: Yes, of course. Is there anything else you would like to note down?
Charles: I am thinking.
[Charles turns the object over in his hands, whilst simultaneously stroking his chin.]
Charles: It moved! Doctors, it moved!
Chow: Wow, that's a great discovery. Can you describe what happened for the test notes?
Charles: The colors move. Upwards and sidewards.
Chow: You could try to make it so each face of the cube is the same colour.
Charles: Yes, yes. That testing may provide results for the Foundation.
[Charles begins to rotate the rows and columns of the item.]
Charles: Up…
Charles: Left…
Charles: Blues together.
Charles: Down…
Charles: No!
[Charles grabs the table and throws it across the cell.]
Charles: The blues have parted!
Hubert: Doctor, please remember to carry yourself with conduct suiting a Foundation Researcher.
Charles: I apologise, assistants. The colours I joined have parted. I must try again.
[Charles continues to attempt to solve the item for three hours, six minutes.]
Charles: Assistants, I tire. I wish to go to my quarters… but the item remains a mystery.
Hubert: We can continue testing tomorrow, if you would like?
Charles: Will there not be a new item to conduct testing on?
Hubert: SCP-1229 seemed less volatile today. I do not expect us to receive a new item tomorrow if you would like to continue testing on this one?
Charles: Very excellent news, Doctor. This happies me to hear.
Hubert: Does this conclude testing, Doctor?
Charles: Yes, testing is concluded. Doctor Hubert?
Hubert: Yes?
Charles: I have too made notes today. Please upload to the file.
[Charles walks across the room towards Doctor Hubert.]
Chow: Doctor Charles-
Charles: This is important testing, it must be on the file.
[Charles holds out a sheet of paper to Hubert. Hubert holds out a plastic bag; Charles drops the note inside.]
[Charles is incredibly close to Hubert.]
Charles: Doctor Hubert, were you to like to come with me we can continue testing.
Hubert: I, I can't Doctor Charles, I-
Charles: Why?
Hubert: I have another assignment and-
[Hubert begins to experience an unseasonal bout of hayfever, and her eyes begin to water.]
Charles: Is my testing not the most important, Hubert?
[Hubert looks over to Chow.]
Hubert: Hector?
Chow: Dr Charles! Do I need to remind you of Foundation Conduct Policy regarding physical vicinty of staff?
Charles: This is for the testing!
Chow: All staff are to maintain a distance of at least two meters from each other at all times to protect themselves and the Foundation. You are aware of this rule, and if you are a member of the Foundation, you will adhere to it!
[All three doctors are silent as they contemplate the importance of Foundation protocol.]
Charles: You are right, Doctor Chow. I am indeed a member of the Foundation. And I observe Foundation protocol.
[Charles withdraws to the other side of the room.]
Charles: I apologise, Doctor Hubert.
Hubert: That is quite alright, Doctor Charles. I appreciate your commitment to the Foundation and testing. You are a Senior Researcher here, and you've given us no reason to think otherwise.
Charles: Yes. I am committed to the Foundation and testing. Thank you both for you help with the testing. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Chow: Goodnight, Doctor. We'll see you tomorrow.
[Doctors Chow and Hubert take SCP-1229-98 and the research notes and exit the cell.1 Once they have left, Doctor Charles adheres himself to the cell ceiling and awaits the next testing session.]
Later that day, a containment breach occurred within Site-19. The breach was of a serious nature, and Dr Amanda Hubert was unfortunately one of the casualties. She was declared deceased, and is thus unable to participate in further SCP-1229 testing and will not be seen again. Whilst this may upset Dr Charles, he is reminded of Foundation protocol regarding behaviour in such a situation.
Prior to Dr Hubert's death, she uploaded Dr Charles' notes as requested. These can be found below:
