SCP-1175-JP

Item #: SCP-1175-JP

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All online social communities included on the watchlist are to be monitored by Foundation web crawlers for the emergence of SCP-1175-JP groups. Upon detection of an SCP-1175-JP group, designated personnel are to conduct a cover-up operation utilizing images containing communication avoidance inducing agents and perform low-intensity amnesticization. Isolated SCP-1175-JP groups are to be either deleted or kept under observation and continued interaction, based on the judgment of the research lead.

Description: SCP-1175-JP is a collective designation for groups that appear sporadically on social media services across the Internet, each bearing a name broadly equivalent to "I Slew the Black Dragon Today Community." Forty-three language variations of the name have been confirmed, including English, Japanese, and French, with the spelling remaining consistent in each language. SCP-1175-JP takes the form of hashtags on social media or topic/thread titles on services with message board functionality, with particularly active engagement observed on the latter. Topics discussed on SCP-1175-JP include how they slew the Black Dragon, why they were unable to slay it, and what can be done to slay it. These posts are often perceived by civilians as some form of promotion or practical joke.

SCP-1175-JP-1 is a collective designation for unidentified accounts that post on SCP-1175-JP. SCP-1175-JP-1 instances use the account name "ahderumm (1-6 digits)" on non-anonymous services, though no evidence has been found that these accounts were registered through legitimate means. Furthermore, their IP addresses indicate unknown locations in all posts, and efforts to identify the sources have failed.

While SCP-1175-JP-1 instances converse with one another in the language used to denote the name of the corresponding SCP-1175-JP group, they respond to posts made by parties other than SCP-1175-JP-1 instances in the same language as the original poster. SCP-1175-JP-1 instances are capable of recognizing text, images, and audio within the confines of their social media platforms, though there have been no recorded cases of SCP-1175-JP-1 instances initiating communication in any form other than text. Most identifiable SCP-1175-JP-1 instances cease to be active within one year; however, a small number of instances have been successfully engaged over the long term. Details can be found in the Conversation Logs.

SCP-1175-JP was initially suspected of being linked to a specific group-of-interest. Since no anomalous properties were identified beyond the inability to trace the accounts' origin, it was designated a low-priority anomaly, and Agent Morigarami was appointed as the dedicated investigator.

Subject: A thread titled "オレは今日黒き竜を殺したぜコミュニティ" posted on a Japanese image board

Overview: This is a typical example of a conversation on SCP-1175-JP. While several SCP-1175-JP-1 instances are believed to have participated in this thread based on the exchange, individual instances have not been identified. Information of low importance has been omitted for the sake of readability.

Note: The civilian involved was identified and subjected to a follow-up investigation, which revealed no notable abnormalities. This community was shut down without incident 14 hours after its occurrence.

Following the interaction with SCP-1175-JP-1-a, long-term contact with multiple SCP-1175-JP-1 instances was successfully established. All of them left SCP-1175-JP, stating that they were going to kill the Black Dragon and see outside their own world. Many of the instances interviewed expressed a strong interest in cultures other than what they refer to as "the Children of Ahderumm," and seemed to have postponed their quest to slay the Black Dragon. Yet, from their tone, I sensed that they knew their departure was inevitable. Where they were departing to, I still do not know. — Agent Morigarami

Update: Agent Morigarami has submitted a request raising the potential connection between the following incident and SCP-1175-JP. Relevant personnel will be notified upon approval and substantial revision of this document.

Classification #: PreEE-█████-JP (Awaiting listing in the Log of Extranormal Events)

Date: 2011/03/29

Location: Urbana, Illinois, United States of America

Description: A benign sebaceous cyst on Doris Åbergsson’s gluteal region, with a maximum diameter of 15 cm, unexpectedly began to cause pain without any prior warning and ruptured one minute later due to an unknown cause. The ejection of over 2 liters of waste matter persisted for three minutes. Home video footage from the time recorded the song "A New World"4 blaring from the rupture wound at a volume of up to approximately 90 dB. Although this cyst had been present for twelve years and was gradually enlarging, treatment had been postponed as it was considered a benign skin growth. The cyst was successfully removed following the ejection of waste matter, and Doris has shown no signs of anomalous activity as of 2019.

Addendum: The following items were discovered within the removed cyst and mixed in with the waste matter.

  • A needle-shaped object 4 mm in length, composed primarily of calcium oxalate. Artificial craftsmanship is evident in the details, and its shape closely resembles that of a two-handed sword (Zweihänder).
  • 20 mm and 8 mm strands of Doris’s body hair. These appear to have grown into the interior of the sebaceous cyst. Their surfaces have hardened due to unknown factors, and evidence of a sharp cut is visible.

Update: As multiple cases similar to this incident have been confirmed, classification as an Extranormal Event has been withheld. In all cases, the ruptured sebaceous cysts were benign and had been left untreated for more than five years since discovery. The music heard consisted of a diverse range of songs within the symphonic metal and epic metal genres.
