IN THE BEGINNING

A pantheon of impossibly powerful ur-deities tear into each other, destroying one another from the inside-out. Their hollowed-out remains, the corpses of gods, fall to the four corners of Asia, burying deep into the ground.

THREE THOUSAND YEARS AGO

Three unfathomably powerful ancient civilizations wage an apocalyptic war that leaves the landscape of the world forever changed. Before they can destroy each other, they are obliterated by the BLACKSTAR, the first true demigod. The existence and histories of the anomalous empires are suppressed by his magic for thousands of years.

OVER THE PAST THREE CENTURIES

The anomalous has played a crucial, hidden role in humanity's history. Nations leveraged their supernatural resources in the seven Occult Wars, running parallel to the mundane world's conflicts. The Veiled World is vast, but fragile; the only ones keeping it together are the Foundation, the UN Global Occult Coalition, and the PENTAGRAM, desperately trying to maintain the status quo under the House Accords.

NOW

The Foundation stumbles across the capital city of the ancient Mekhanite Empire. Feeling blindly, they unleash a power humanity has not seen for eras. Robert Bumaro resurrects the Cult of the Broken God. The ball is thrown into motion.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING

This dead world is spiraling, careening towards an Occult War that threatens to obliterate not just humanity, but all life on the planet. The hands of history cannot be stopped. Pandora's Box cannot be closed.

The actions of a few can alter the world irrevocably. Many of these figures will never know or meet each other; their decisions will be felt by all of them, across history.

THE ADMINISTRATOR

The Administrator. Franz Williams. The BLACKSTAR. This creature goes by many names — he is one of the oldest things walking the planet, and he is desperately trying to atone for past sins before it's too late.

O5-1 (DJANGO BRIDGE)

Primes inter pares of the Council. He is attempting to steer the Foundation through the buffeting winds of change, but without the guidance of the Administrator, can only do so much. He has seen the horrors of two Occult Wars, and can't bear the thought of sparking another.

O5-2 (DAVID ROSEN)

A young, brilliant, crippled RAISA analyst who will one day become O5-2 and RAISA Director. He possesses the kind of incising mind that rivals Maria Jones, able to practically see the future with disparate shreds of information — but he remains confined to his wheelchair.

SECRETARY ARIADNE KATSAROS

A Foundation Agent abruptly robbed of her memory, her left arm, and her duties. Pushed into retirement before being offered an opportunity to serve as a adjutant and bodyguard for the new O5-2, in exchange for a advanced cybernetic arm. Now serves aboard Site-7, protecting David Rosen from the threats against his life.

O5-3 (EVERETT MANN)

A former member of the elusive MTF Delta-0; fully believes he has put that life behind him and silenced the swimming voice in his head. Now serves as the Council's expert on paratechnology, eigenweapons, and R&D — but the Engineer can't deny that something, somewhere is tugging at him.

O5-11 (BENJAMIN KONDRAKI)

A complicated man from a different century, who believes that the Foundation's place is to use the anomalous freely and liberally to improve humanity's lot — whatever the cost. Authorizes risky projects with highly questionable ethics, something that eventually comes back to bite him.

FARHAN MORADI

An elusive soldier of fortune whose past is as hazy as his allegiances. Once a committed ORIA agent, a near-death experience altered him; now, he freely sells his talents to the highest bidder. Often hired as a 'consultant' by the GOC, PENTAGRAM, Foundation, and Myrmidon, Farhan has connections and contracts across the seedy world of anomalous espionage. Has long since forgotten what he's fighting for.

DR. ROBERT ARAM/BUMARO

One of the Foundation's leading experts on paratechnology and Project Lead of the Amoni-Ram Initiative. In the course of his investigations into the hyper-advanced Mekhanite city, he loses his mind and body to madness, asserting his control over his people and rebelling against the Foundation. Now he shepherds his flock from his hidden city, fully believing he is the chosen successor to the Bumaro dynasty, and that only he can stop the coming Occult War.

DR. HEDVIG NUSSBAUM

Once Aram's co-lead on the Amoni-Ram Initiative, in charge of analyzing the city's history; now his most trusted lieutenant and reluctant companion as he commands the Mekhanites. But Hedvig's spirit is not broken, and she just needs the opportunity to wrest back control of her fate from Aram.

RAJMATA VASLIRASIRRAJ-SHIRAT

The spirit-bride of the Scarlet Maharaja, and ruling in his absence as Red Empress of the Daeva. Her people have been locked into the Astral Plane for thousands of years, and the endless dream is ending, putting their future into jeopardy. Once, she sacrificed everything to save her people from the BLACKSTAR — now, she will do anything to assure their survival.

DR. PANDORA GALANIS

Project Lead on the Mamjul-Korar Initiative — distrusted by the Council for their ancillary involvement in the Amoni-Ram Incident, but the only one who the Daeva trust enough to use as an arbitrator. Instrumental in creating the Daevic Culture Report and forging an alliance between the astral demons and the Foundation, an alliance they quickly come to see as a Faustian bargain.

LT. CMDR. CASEY 'CASE' TEMPLE

Deputy Director of the Stellar Affairs Division — Commanding Officer of the FSV Otrera and the head of Project VAGABOND. In the business of setting up a forward operating base on Vanaheim-2a and investigating whether the old gods really were only limited to Earth.

Look into your heart, find mercy, and tear it out of your chest. Nature is ever-spiralling towards entropy, and at the bottom of that spiral lies a single, shining black eye. The Black Moon has been watching, waiting for centuries.
