Errands, delays & good business.
March 2, 2023
Back in Atlanta. Some Ram driver didn't see me crossing the street and almost hit me. Or maybe they did see and just didn't care. Same thing that happened to me in Threeports last week—I get it, they've only had cars since the 80s, but then what the hell's ATL's excuse?
Anyway—left a dead drop under a bridge in Druid Hills. Told my guy he's looking for a mini flash drive in an empty Coke can. Hopefully the Foundation and CDC can make better use of the information on it than I can.
To-Do:
- Schedule rendezvous with CI operative.
- Pick up thaumaturgically-enhanced zinc anode from supplier.
- Vote next Tuesday.
- Catch red eye flight ATL→EWR.
March 3, 2023
Flight keeps getting delayed. They're blaming weather conditions and crew availability, but there's been a containment breach in the basement level, and they're keeping the airport under lock until it's under control.
They don't need my help handling it, but I'm not sure how long it'll take. I don't mind, really—I rather like airports. I think I'll stay overnight, and if things are still shut down in the morning, then I'll sneak out and up the East Coast myself.
March 4, 2023
Fuck it, I guess I'm freight hopping. I don't mind terribly, I only wish American trains could be a bit faster, is all.
I can't really complain—not when the weather's good and it's good views up the coast.
I'll say I'm sharing the car with some interesting cargo, though—mainly a lot of weird bones and rocks. Gave me the heebie jeebies, and I haven't been inclined to open any more boxes. I think I just heard something growl from inside one of them.
Whatever this all is, the train is taking them inland tonight, and I'll have to switch tracks before then.
Note to self: When you wrap up business up North, ride through Appalachia. It's been too long since I've checked on them, and sometimes that makes me nervous.
March 5, 2023
Had to rush to make up for lost time, but still managed to meet with my supplier, for all the good that did.
Enhancements on the zinc anode were sub-par and too botched to fix. Am I really going to have to go to Anderson or MC&D? They always upcharge. Ugh, I miss Prometheus.
CI guy asked me to meet him on a yacht in Newport. Supposedly, it belongs to some Russian oligarch. The party should provide plenty of cover, but I can always find him on the docks later if it's either too crowded or not crowded enough.
To-Do:
- Keep looking for anode replacement. Worst case, get the materials to do it ourselves.
- Keep eye out for UFO signal. Due for one soon.

Travel plans, est.

Yacht party was fun, actually. Saw Chrysophilius Marshall there, but of course, he didn't notice me.
CI guy cleans up well. Paid well, too. I gave him a file I took from Site-412 the other day. He'll plan to ambush an object transfer, but by now, the Foundation will have scrambled their schedule. Just to be safe, I'm sure I'll end up running interference.
Oh, and bonus! Mentioned my anode problem offhandedly to the CI guy, and he gave me the name of a Maxwellist who might be able to supply. Arranged to meet up with her first thing tomorrow.
March 8, 2023
Had steak and eggs for breakfast. Met the Maxwellist in a Goodwill parking lot. She spent about ten minutes trying to pitch me other modifications, but in the end, I just got what I was after. Sound prism feature on my hearing aid is fixed, finally.
She handed me a pamphlet, inviting me to "listen to the good word". That is to say, there's a coding seminar next week I might drop into, if I have time.
Kept her contact in case I need her later.
To-Do:
- Go to Boston tonight and meet with that Wondertainer.
He wants to meet in the city, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't stop by WonderWorld!™ for a bit while I'm up there.
Pros
Cons
- Great waffles.
- Great surveillance.
Hmm. Decisions…
It's supposed to rain all afternoon. Found a coffee shop to sit in for a while. Got in some good people watching.
March 9, 2023
Waited around the waterfront for about an hour, but the Wondertainer never showed. Don't they know ghosting's rude?
I ended up going to WonderWorld!™ (Why do I have to write it like that every time?). It was late, so not much was open, but I managed to find some fresh ammunition and sweets for the road.
01:30am: Waffles at WaffleWorld!™ (Seriously?!)
Shared a booth with a very red man. Pleasant conversationalist, but didn't eat his waffle—just drenched it in syrup and hacked at it with his fork.
He asked me if I knew Lost. Ironically, I'd spent the evening kind of hoping I would run into him again, even knowing I'm no more likely to see him in Boston than anywhere else. One can never guess where his wanderlust has led him.
A good stroll might have knocked me off schedule, but I've always thought some aimless roaming to be good for the soul. I shared as much wisdom with Redd.
Left around 3. He invited me to stay and play in a poker tournament with him and his publicists, but I had to decline. As tempting as it sounded, I need to be in New York tomorrow. Redd understood and told the cashier "it's on me", but didn't pay.
I guess the company's in good hands?
To-Do:
- Run by USPS. Delivery and pickup.
- Visit Site-90.
- Scrub Wondertainment CCTV.

Got a motel room to shower and change, also for the complimentary coffee. It wasn't very good, but that's okay. Everyone in the lobby was of the Serpent's Hand, seemed like.
Ran into the Critic on the street, so we went to the Met. No new good exhibits. Apologized I couldn't stick around for lunch.
Took a cab down to Tribeca. Disarmed one of the car bombs in the Site-90 parking garage, then continued inside. Took me a whole twenty seconds to get past their new security—fixed my credentials once inside, so hopefully that won't happen again.
Picked up some amnestics and mnestics. Renewed my vaccination for both while I was in Atlanta, so I don't need to worry about that for a while.
Saw in their files that MC&D is having an auction tomorrow night. Guess I ought to go to that. In that case…
To-Do:
- Buy a better suit.

Went to the post office. Bought some stamps and helped someone with his route.
No UFO sightings, but got a page from a friend that triangulated to Area-51. Might be in Nevada next week for a jailbreak.
Picked up suit from Brooks Brothers. Paid in the cash the CI gave me.
Limo picked me up @ 8pm.
Went to the auction. Both Marshalls and the junior Carter were there, but neither of the Darkes. Heard some gossip about a new Ambrose restaurant opening soon, but no one seemed to know where.
Most of the lots were pretty abstract, but everything sold. It's an ego thing for these people, and it helps that this auctioneer is always a real crowd pleaser. Met him after the show—he even gave me a cigarette.
Didn't buy anything.
