Stories and Editorials

As a reminder, the sites annual art exchange will be starting the 15th of next month where users will be secretly making art for each other for Christmas. Exact details will be in the next instalment of site news but we wanted to remind everyone to start prepping their wish lists :)

This year, the ES branch hosts Chronocon! Here we have agente alanagente alan to give us some inside look into the contest:

Time is defined as the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future. What got you to consider having a contest for the idea this year?

The initial idea was suggested by DC_Yerko, and during the drafting process the whole admin team kept refining the concept. I liked the idea because it is a difficult topic to write about.

How do you and other authors manage and plan this event?

It was a joint effort: DC_Yerko was in charge of the overall aesthetics, I wrote the hub, did the illustration, and reviewed the ideas for the contest, and the reference recommendations were provided by alienproof23 and eduteck (page moderator and the critique team leader, respectively).

What are your top 3 favorite entries and why?

There are no entries yet; they will be published from November 8 to November 9!

What do you think makes a story about time stand out?

Well, there are many factors, but I have always liked stories that are based on the melancholy of past times, like in the movie/OVA The Golden Digimentals. I feel that it’s a theme that easily captures the reader’s interest in the story

Do you have any final thoughts you would like to share with readers?

This is technically the first contest of the year, since we had an event for rewriting old SCP-ES (Torquemada 2025), so I hope this event goes well and many people are encouraged to participate.
