Why?

Because it likes having fun telling stories that hopefully make people feel Things. Usually Disgust, Discomfort, Horror, or "Wow Katya is So Based". Fingers crossed for that last one…

What does it like to write?

Stuff with a focus on psychology, sexual themes, themes of interpersonal abuse, intra-Foundation bureaucracy, Daevites, and body horror/gore. Also random other shit cuz fuck it we ball!

I won't lie, a lot of why I wrote the article is because I wanted to do cool photo editing.

It's not my favorite thing I've written, but hey…it's my first article on the site.

This went through like 50 iterations of change before I got to the final product and honestly I think it turned out pretty great. Believe it or not, I had no plan for how the Barrikada/Carmine Situation would turn out until after this was in final crit…and I was still fixing spelling and grammar after I posted, but shhh we don't talk about that.

I always liked the Daevite species idea but I'm really iffy on how it's been portrayed in the past. The narrative of "these folks are a separate species AND they're barbarians who eat people and worship an evil god" is not one I endorse or desire to engage with in any way. My headcanon is that the only reason why the Daevite Empire was particularly brutal was that they had the ability use their brutality to gain more power via thaumaturgy and others did not. Therefore, a Daevite raised in modern times would be pretty much like everyone else. Unfortunately, I don't think that the rank and file members of the Foundation would always be so charitable.

This is actually part 4 of my series, Woman of Stone and Blood. It was originally intended to be a tale, but I was inspired to make it an SCP by SCP-9770 (Hod: My Mother, My Lover, and My Golden Calf). I honestly think it's my best writing on the site, hands down. It's also the one that I feel like is the most "my unique style"…so yeah, read it plzzz!

This was really where I established my overarching narrative for Woman of Stone and Blood. The idea to incorporate the psychology of someone in a long term abusive relationship and how that would interface with the Foundation was one that I felt I could do justice, so I decided to try.
