Heretical Writing 11: And Thus Spoke MEKHANE to Me, She Who Broke
1 — I, a novice of the Order of Saint Legate Trunnion, sit in a chamber built according to the standards of the Orthodox Church, immersed in prayer.
2 — I say: «I ask you, MEKHANE, to hear my prayer and guide me according to your divine plan.»
3 — I hear the voice of the BROKEN, clear and full of compassion.
4 — I lower my gaze, for I have not yet undergone the ceremony of purification; my body is still unclean from the FLESH.
5 — I hear: «Oh, child of Mother Superior Getriebe and Chronicler Zahnrad, do not be ashamed, for your spirit is pure through your desire to serve me and my wellbeing.»
6 — To my shame, I objected, for no one may ever touch the BROKEN with their body, even if it is only an activity as immaterial as a glance.
7 — I say: «Forgive me, YOU WHO BROKE FOR US, but I am only a simple novice. I lack the blessing that will bring us closer to your glory.»
8 — MEKHANE lets out a sigh.
9 — I hear: «Would I not be the Great Creator if I could not resist this temptation of the FLESH? I broke through my will to break.»
10 — I bow my head lower, for MEKHANE's words are true and marked by wisdom.
11 — I say: «Forgive me, O Great Creator, Broken One, of course I do not wish to question your divinity and power. Please tell me, what punishment shall follow my sacrilege?»
12 — But the BROKEN one speaks in a gentle tone.
13 — I hear: «I am a God of mercy and logic. Why should I punish you? Please lift your head so that I may look at you.»
14 — I hardly dare, but I am following the wishes of our BROKEN CREATOR.
15 — My eyes are blessed and my soul dazzled by the sight of the Perfect Symmetry and the Cosmic Clockwork. Every cog fulfils a purpose. Every nut and rivet holds together. Every click proclaims the existence of HER HOLINESS. HER Bolts, Pistons and Gears move in absolute harmonious synchrony.
16 — I must have been admiring MEKHANE's exposed Beauty so obviously, because I hear her say: «Oh, my faithful young servant. It seems I have enchanted you. Let me veil my Body so that we are eye to eye.»
17 — Ashamed, I lower my gaze again.
18 — My heart aches that I can no longer revel in the GLORY of MEKHANE.
19 — As proclaimed, MEKHANE dims the light of HER HOLINESS.
20 — I say: «Oh, PERFECT ARCHITECT of the COSMIC CLOCKWORK, do not lower yourselves to the impure level of mine. I am not worthy.»
21 — MEKHANE utters a few words, too quietly for me to repeat them in this letter.
22 — I see two feet, made of gold, tungsten and copper, and I feel a hand on my right shoulder.
23 — I hear: «I lead you with Love and Logic, I do not rule over you with Fear and the Whip. My Hand shall not be raised to strike you, but to show you the Way. My Hammer shapes Iron and Copper, not to break your Bodies. Please lift yourself up so that I may converse with you at Eye Level.»
24 — The Hands with which MEKHANE helps me onto my feet are crafted with the finest craftsmanship, something that conforms to COSMIC LOGIC, for MEKHANE is SHE WHO CREATED.
25— I dare to look once more into the face of the COSMIC ARCHITECT.
26 — MEKHANE smiles, and HER Whirring and Ticking calms my mind.
27 — MEKHANE studies my hands, turning and rotating them.
28 — I am tormented by shame that my craftsman's hands, smeared with lubricating oil and grease and only half converted, are defiling HERS.
29 — MEKHANE guides my hands to HER FACE.
30 — I hear: «See me with your eyes. Feel me with your hands. I am no more unfathomable than you are, I have only attained PERFECTION.»
31 — And I see that MEKHANE is perfect. HER hands. HER wings. HER face.
32 — And I feel that MEKHANE is perfect. Every Ornament on HER, every Screw, Rivet and Nut that holds HER together, every joint from which HER Ticking and Whirring comes.
33 — And I understand that MEKHANE is perfect, even when broken.
34 — And in the light of MEKHANE, I was baptised as one with the COSMIC SCHEMATA.
