The world outside is dark and cold,
Above are lights that hum.
And in the other room you hear
The screams of those undone.
Valiantly you toe the line
Between their fear and hate.
So close your eyes and open up your mind
A garden of roses awaits.
Late at night you feel its call;
A tugging at your sheets.
Like Sandman’s spell or the midnight bell
It entices and entreats.
For you will search so far and wide and up and down the street.
And upon the land of kings and queens
A garden of roses awaits.
Oh, garden of roses white
Why do you hide away?
Is it because of your beauty
Or the ones who wouldn’t stay?
For maybe you are nothing
But a memory now far gone.
The sunny days which fade away
To innocence forever gone.
Who knows if you are even real
Or in our minds you’ll stay.
We were told to forgo your laudanum cure;
For those days have gone away.
But many here remember you
But many here will stay
As we must die and suffer in the dark
So others may see the day.
