Here's a draft that's been sitting on the backburner for a while now that I've only just gotten around to posting. Maybe this will do well, maybe it won't. Either way I just wanted to get this off my plate and I felt like now was a good time to do that.

(for those wondering, yes, the choice of image is very much intentional)

Oh, one more thing that I forgot to mention: This was a self-imposed challenge on myself to write an SCP in under 500 words. This does just so, clocking in at 495 words.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
from up and down, but still somehow
it's clouds' terrifying, unknowable intentions I recall
I really don't know clouds
at all

Clouds are very creepy things, and this article taps into that extremely well. It is is a very good piece that shows how to do a short work extremely effectively. Hearty +1.

I'm keeping the link because I wasn't sure whether the attribution required in the image licensing would work if I left the link outside of the article itself. I've also seen other SCPs where the image link was included in the caption, so I think I'm going to leave it as is.

I didn't really fully understand what this thing is and what it does, but it seems like an interesting idea.

It's a cloud that really really tampers with perception¹ and it's effects have become an epidemic, taking on cult-like properties which it seems to have either caused or responded to. This of-course carries the implication that it is an intelligent entity that wants humanity to go under it's weird effects. Or it's just making people think it is.

The anomaly is semantic, similarly to Allison Eckhart or SCP-1539. Anything that passes through is redefined as “sky”. Cognitohazardous and ontokinetic elements are also involved.

SCP-2348 is a sky deity. This is no mere Zeus/Jupiter or Ra, however. This is a conceptual sky deity. This thing is a physical manifestation of the concept of “sky”. Apparently, this thing is such a powerful manifestation that it redefines objects passing through them to “sky”. It also draws in the sky around it, explaining the sub-anomalies. For the purpose of anyone around it, it is the entire sky. The “hand” imagery is due to human failure of comprehension. 2348 is shaped like a manipulative body part, incomprehensible to humans and rationalized as a hand. The pointing form is due to the manipulative body part moving into a manipulation phase, from the sky taking action. This is basically a sky god as Lovecraft or maybe qntm would write it. A new addition to the “conceptual pantheon” beside f i f t h, god of distortion, and the anafabula, god of destruction.
