Welcome to the Drafts Forum!

If you're interested in contributing to the site using your knowledge of the Foundation-verse, clinical writing, or general "I'm an audience member and I know what I like!"-ness, this is the place! Plenty of authors, both first-time writers and veterans, workshop their drafts here to get a feel for the community response before mainlisting their works.

As a few general guidelines for helpful critique:

SHOW ME THREE STEPS!

1. Reviews should match the draft! Don't just post the same thing on every draft thread. Authors should be able to tell you're writing a review for their work, not just anything in the forums.

2. Reviews should give the author an idea of what to do next, and why! Noticed a couple mistakes? Great! Tell the author how to fix them and how that will improve their work! Didn't notice any issues? Also great! Tell the author what specifically they did well so they can keep doing that!

3. Reviews should be honest! You don't need to be an expert on physics, the Serpent's Hand, or even the Foundation in general to be a reviewer. If you're a site member, you have a vote on the site! That said, you should let an author know if you aren't sure how an Einstein–Rosen bridge would work in reality, or if you're not 100% confident on whether the Foundation would blow up a bridge instead of containing it. That's just common courtesy!

As an additional note, to acknowledge the hard work reviewers put into the forums every day, the Reviewers' Spotlight exists to showcase exemplary works written or selected by prominent community reviewers. After all, if you can help someone write a successful mainsite piece, you know what quality work the audience wants to see!

There are two routes:

1. Get invited to join the Roster. Reviewers who consistently provide quality critique and interact well with authors will receive a wikidot message inviting them to join the Roster.

2. Ask for consideration to be added to the Roster. Reviewers may contact the captain of the Forum Criticism staff team (Zyn) stating their interest in becoming a Butterfly and why they believe they will be an asset to the team. Depending on their initial message, they may be asked to provide examples of their forum review work. If their critique is deemed reliably consistent and of sufficient quality, they will be added to the team.
