Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
The SCP Foundation is a mental construct in a girl named Stacie's mind. The SCP Foundation represents Stacie's bad coping mechanism when dealing with her life, compartmentalizing everything, unable to let go or move on. SCP-2442 is her therapist, helping her locate her own inner demons to come to peace with them. The O5s are Stacie's darkest, most deep insecurities.

Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
I'm a bit confused. What do all these random SCP's she's getting rid of have do with her life?
Did she meet them in "somewhere" and have a bad experience with them, from which her life is utterly crushed and from there realized she had to move on and manifested SCP-2442 and helped/influenced the creation of the SCP Foundation to help rally here bad experiences with sad entities from "somewhere" into one place where she can deal with them?
Please tell me if have this wrong.
The article is far more metaphorical than most articles. I am afraid I can't really explain in further detail than that- it's all one big metaphor for very human, mundane experiences.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
Not to necro-post, but given the therapy angle and the fact they vanish when brought to the thing's attention, it could be that as Stacie opens up about her inner demons (the scps), they no longer become issues for her (like taking a person with fear of heights climbing as experience-therapy).
Bro, your a genie. New fave SCP
+1
I thought it was interesting until you pulled a Men in Black with those spoilers of yours. Now it just seems weak and sucks all the magic out of it like metaclorians did to the force.
neutral vote without the spoilers.
I'm sorry I'm unfamiliar with movies. What do you mean by pulling a "Men in Black"? Thank you for the response.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
In the Men in Black trilogy of movies, they say that the universe they inhabit is utterly inconsequential through some reveal at the end similar to what you said the Foundation basically is according to your spoilers.
For example, at the end of I think the second one, Agent K showed Agent J that the universe they inhabit is contained in a locker inside of a subway station of a larger universe, basically rendering their existence insignificant. However they played it off for laughs and weren't seriously saying that the world they live in and the organization they work for are meaningless.
And the metaclorians bit comes from the first star wars prequel in which they suck all the magic out of the force, this previously mystical thing which apparently tied all life together in the galaxy and turned it into just symbiotic bacteria in the bloodstream.
In summation, you saying that were all in her head kind of ruins everything cool about the Foundation universe.
Ah I got that, that's OK. Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated. Unfortunately I don't think I can change too much to make it more pleasing to you, for this I do apologize and strive to provide a less un-magicking one for you next time.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
The real problem for me is that the implications it leaves are the hook, but you bend the thing flat by just saying "Remember all those interesting questions you had about what the hell happened here? Well forget it, metaclorians. Yep. No interesting mystery to see here folks."
It's alright if you disagree, but in order for me to like this article, I have to pretend the spoilers you added don't exist. That's just my personal opinion so take it how you will.
It's very roundabout and obtuse. I like what you were aiming for, but I didn't understand it until reading your spoilers.
Does it occur to anyone else that this can be reworked into a 001 proposal?
Actually, it should be a 001 proposal in its implications, but that would also mean the O5 would be willingly acknowledging it as something larger than they are willing to. So instead they give it a 'regular' number and try to threaten anyone that tries to dig too deep.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
Don't we already have a "scp is not real" Scip?
Anyway, the tone, grammar and stuff are well done, but idea that the Foundation only existing in a girl's mind really doesn't sit well with me. Neutral vote, as for now.
Normally I HATE the whole " BLAH BLAH is not real, it's just in BLAH BLAH's head!" trope, but it was handled deftly and executed beautifully here. While it conflicts with my personal headcanon, I believe it deserves a hearty +1.
And if the whole world is crashing down… fall through space out of mind with me.
I'm the opposite of Thekillerax; I love the idea and am a sucker for head games, but I disliked the execution here
