Regardless, i like this interview. It's just a shame that most of it is corrupted. I would have liked to read more.

I would assume an MTF member would always be armed with a weapon.

Then you're forgetting that MTFs are not solely made up of infantry. Depending on that MTF's specialist focus, it could have scholars, engineers, clergymen etc. Those are unlikely to be toting guns at all times.
