Stinks that you guys couldn't finish on time. It's been ages since anyone actually used this GoI, and I'd been really looking forward to seeing new content for it. I understand life just gets in the way sometimes, though.

Still, I'm glad you at least got your team's hub up. I love how it provides a nice, new perspective on a GoI that, frankly, hadn't really aged very well.

Are you grandfathering in a GOI that didn't exist until now? Or was the Chicago Spirit a genuine GOI that fell into disuse?

The site hosting the pictures for the three images of the Cistern Chappell, opium den, and Black Vault went down semi-recently.

The photos were part of the Special Photographs taken by the New South Wales Police Department from the 1910s to the 1930s. I'm not acquainted enough with Aussie copyright law but I figure that the fact that they were taken long enough ago to be Public Domain by now, if they weren't already by virtue of being taken during official governmental work.

Go for it. I say the more Spirit, the better. I'm planning to contribute a few tales, myself, if not make a full-blown canon out of it. Not enough love for the oldschool GoIs around here as it is.

I get the reference. It still just kind of sounds like a name for a sports team that couldn't think of any good plural nouns that refer to their city because the major league teams got to them first. :)

I had no idea this was even a GOI. Still, its exciting.

I was interested who the photo was in real life, and it is apparently Arthur Bell, who lived near where I live, but in the 1900s. Breaking into houses in Newcastle is arguably less exciting than being a magic bootlegger in Chicago. (http://www.vintag.es/2012/08/mugshots-of-newcastle-upon-tyne.html)

also, let's see, the 'black vault' is from the New South Wales Police Department, "Commercial interior showing damaged safes. Details unknown, late 1930s". "Justice & Police Museum ; 193"

The 'opium den' appears to be a crime scene in Darlinghurst, New South Wales; I can't find the picture more clearly, but it's late.
