Man, Dr Hockenberry, I really wish you had discussed this with me before posting -_-

I fixed the format to match the GOI Contest format, and added my own writing to the Overview and Information tabs. At this time both these are still fairly rough, as I wasn't planning on posting anything this early. However, I'd rather something there than just a blank page. As far as the Information tab goes, I will probably add more when I get a chance.

Any feedback would be appreciated, as I haven't yet had the chance to seek it out previously. Especially grammar, spacing, and wording fixes, as those can be edited during the contest. More extensive critique is also appreciated, though that will have to wait for after the contest (if this manages to survive afterwards).

As always, thanks for reading. I'm excited to see what comes out of this contest, and wish all the participants the best of luck.

Alright, now that this is actually following the rules of the contest, critique. This is just repeating what I said on IRC, so bear with me.

The bad: This is overly long, repetitive, and a bit doofy (sorry Sorts) in parts. Some elements are unnecessarily confusing.

The good: I think your core concept is surprisingly strong. You've got some cool lines. When Nobody's letter finally gets down to brass tacks, I find myself intrigued. This bit in particular:

Here at last is an answer I can give without imprecision. I am not whole in the way that others are. I am not significant in the way that others are. I am unable to affect the world in the way others are.

I read that and I think, okay, I'm actually interested to see what this is all about.

It might not end up going well — as I said, there's a balance here between stuff that bores me and stuff that intrigues me — but as it stands, it's enough for an upvote for the front material at least.

My first thought was "M'lady *tips fedora*" and "not all men". I now can't get the idea out of my skull.

I am not whole in the way that others are. I am not the significant in the way that others are. I am unable to affect the world in the way others are. I suppose you can say that I am a nobody. All my efforts are an attempt to undermine these truths.

I like this and want to see where this goes.

Also I am seriously sorry Nighkos that this is happening to you.

Used to not like this, but after looking at it again, I realize that is awesome. Just one problem:

Right, so this page is now in it's final form for the contest. I've made some changes to the Overview, added quite a bit to the Information tab, and added my objects (Immortality Amulet and A Part of Nobody) and tales (Just Another Nobody and What Nobody Wants).

I'd like to thank everyone that was willing to take a look at this in review, but especially thedeadlymoose, DrKidd, SoullessSingularity, and Fantem.

Normally, I'd add some author comments here, but for the contest, I ended up writing a lot of that down in the information tab.

Any thoughts are welcome, and as always, thank you for reading.

There are infinitely better ways of creating pseudo-lined text with the intent of making it look like handwritten notes; most importantly, it's possible to do without having to resort to things like manually controlling the length of each line, which is untenable for reuse and doesn't parse well. I would recommend talking to someone with some expertise in web design next time, or at least cleaning it up after the contest is over.

I realized that my result wasn't the perfect solution, but it was the only way I could manage at the time. I know I could have resorted to CSS shenanigans, but I've always had trouble with that sort of thing, and wasn't sure who to consult. Of course, the deadline and restrictions for the contest were also a factor. That said, if these survive, I'd be more than happy to attempt a better solution after the contest, especially if you are willing to provide assistance.

Proposed Alternative to the Format

This is not to suggest a replacement; just an alternative to use.

Thanks to the work of anqxyr and Aiden Eldritch, you can get a format that's more stylistically sleek and easier to work with for the end user, as well as being able to write more per page and insert images easier. The downside is that the text will rarely if ever align with the lines neatly, meaning readability can be a potential issue. And while on mobile, it's extremely legible (minus the notebook/paper background which is absent), it also takes up a ton of screen space except for viewing it on Landscape mode. Here is the code:

One thing the original format does extremely well is force you to write with brevity in mind and try to be as concise, useful, and impactful as possible. That said, this still conveys that same spirit. After all, you don't have to use the whole page.

Thinking of Nobody as a group. Perhaps when a Nobody writes notes to themselves, they leave them in places other Nobodies will find them, and only Nobodies will notice them unless they want someone like a Foundation agent to find it or V. Anderson. Or the Nobodies just have an information network that's so average and normal, no one but other Nobodies truly notice it? That or two Nobodies will meet somewhere and exchange notes, then those two Nobodies will meet another two Nobodies and exchanged notes, thus bringing information from Nobody to Nobody in a seemingly average way. Talking and exchanging notes at a coffee shop, in a park on a bench, at a cafe or even just out and about.
