YES. FINALLY.
There's a difference between a rewrite and a parody. I maintain that this could have been played straight, and this reimagination has removed everything I liked about the original.
if your reading this your gay
I'm also with you on this. It was pretty obvious to me how this was going to go from the start, and it's not very interesting or charming. Also, the last chunk of the final interview, where it's announced that 696 is now neutralized, probably shouldn't be bracketed. The pattern in the rest of the article is that brackets are for stuff on the typewriter.
So after reading "YOUR TIME IS NIGH. IF YOU HAVE A GOD, PRAY TO IT NOW." I knew I had to rewrite this thing, and keep that line. I mean, how do you not keep that line? It's perfect. People liked the ham on the old version, and by jove I've given you ham. Almost literally- the original version of the rewrite had the typewriter be made of pork products.
Thanks to Riemann, Weizhong, Randomini, and probably a bunch of other people for reading the draft. Special thanks to ksaid for helping with the horrible, horrible prose.
I can't entirely remember the context of this. A typo making some random word "car," I think.
Alright, everything you said makes perfect sense except for that image, sweet Jesus Christ on a bicycle what does that picture mean?!
Read the whole article and then you'll get the joke.
Oh! I'm an idiot, I didn't realize that that was the typewriter on top of the car, I thought that was one of those screened roofs that race cars have. I'm an idiot
I don't see that Image. Where is it?
The line "No time to explain, get in the (insert vehicle here) is suposed to be a meme. It is a meme because of how cliched it is, making it easy to parody. But I don't see what it has to do with the article. You could do this with any SCP and any vehicle and it would be funny. Did I miss something?
I don't recall reading the original, so I can't say how this version compares. However, even on its own merits, it one doesn't do anything for me. The "harmless thing that threatens you" bit has already been done much better with Pesterbot, and the interview, which I assume was meant to be funny, didn't even make me crack a smile. The only thing that I can count in its favor are that it didn't involve a great deal of meta-textual wankery about writing for the site and what it means. I was afraid that you were going down that path when I read the first interview, but was relieved to find that you avoided it. Unfortunately, "Not doing a thing" is insufficient reason for me to upvote or to cancel my downvote, so -1 it is.
Is it weird that I find the interactions with D-69601 kind of heartwarming? Especially the last one. A D-class and his…typewriter. *scratches head* Okay, it probably is weird.
Also, I'm not sure if this is an error:
THEY CANNOT EVEN GIVE ME THE NEIGHBOR OF THE BEAST.
Should that be "number", or is "neighbor of the beast" an expression I'm not familiar with? I don't want to assume.
Neighbor of the beast, as in number next to 666. 665 or 667
Actually, the neighbor of the beast is generally considered to be 668. Housing numbers, y'know? It was the title of a proposed sequel to Good Omens and the joke has made its way into a few other works here and there. :)
That aside, I really like this. Never saw the original so can't judge on that, but I like it. Being an aspiring writer myself, I can feel for this dude.
The interactions with D-69601 were so cute. And that line of "sudden butterflies in my non-existent stomach" really got me. The article works well as a short scp. Is this article a complete re-write, given the mentions of the original?
A boer maak a plan!
I didn't read the original, but I found this one quaint. Everybody here should be able to relate to being that guy who doesn't want to tell his friend that something they wrote sucked. Or vice versa. Enthusiastic upvote.
I like it.
For all its bravado about the elder gods, all it really wants is to write a good book.
+1
How could anyone not upvote this?
And thank you for including the original screenshot of it and the comments. This version plays out much more realistically
