There are two Japaneses inscriptions on SCP-2997 that read, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." and, "They believed."

You mean 2 Japanese or 2 Japanese's?

I guess this is time of containment but not 100% so won't fill it in. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how they can work out what the shadows are doing, I can't imagine figuring out that a shadow is treating burns.

I'm assuming 2997-1's gamma radiation doesn't leave 2997? Because I'm pretty sure we'd need a bit more in the containment procedures if it does release gamma rays.

I think you should mention that it doesn't release it's gamma waves in the description.

As for the article: I don't know, something about it bothers me. I know that Nagasaki had and still has a Christian population…

This is the issue that I had with it. We have far too many Abrahamic SCP's, and this one seemed a little more contrived to fit that in, especially in a scenario like Japan.

It was well-written enough to avoid the downvote though.

I think the Christian element of it seems more legitimate than many of the peer articles with the same take; if anything, this feels more original to me.

Might sound better as "ranges from lethal to infinitesimal." with respects to sciencifying it up a tad.

As I said in chat, I'm not really seeing why Christianity has to be here, as it clashes thematically with the subject material you've chosen. I also don't much care for the impact of the article on the reader relying pretty much entirely on the events of Nagasaki, rather than anything of genuine interest in the article itself. It's improved from the earlier versions I saw, but this still really doesn't do it for me.

That they were in mass at the time of the explosion (although I want to say that Nagasaki's bombing was on a Sunday) feels like an accurate prediction of the end of their lives, and that connects the two with a sentiment that I like.

Edit: It was a Thursday (August 9^th, 1945 (Hiroshima was three days earlier, on Monday, August 6^th)), although I don't know that that would actually be unusual for Eastern or specifically Japanese worship. Any people with cultural insight please tell me if I'm ignorant.

The entire part about the cathedral and the people in mass is historically accurate.

For some reason, nuclear shadows make me squick far more than any amount of gore. Probably something to do with the whole vaporization thing. Blurry silhouette of someone who was struck by the nuclear delete key. *shudders*

How does a tracking chip work on this thing? You can't track a radiation absorber with electromagnetic waves.

The "engraving that reveals the object's purpose" thing usually feels hokey to me, and being done twice here, as if the author couldn't decide between the two, was especially shaky.

But other than that, it was a simple, enjoyable article that hit its mark.
