Okay! Two more tales, and this is all gonna be over.
This one went through about ten different drafts until I landed on one that felt good. Previous drafts included:
- Me accidentally making the Pit Sloth a sympathetic antagonist, and realizing I couldn't lean into it without the rest of the series being tarnished.
- The Goatman being unwilling to attack the Pit Sloth because it had also brought back the baby that Caroline was pregnant with— I cut that for being too complex of a subject to write.
- The Goatman dying, and Robert yelling at the Narrative until it got brought back to life; that felt too narmy.
- Robert dying, only to be unable to because the Pit Sloth can't create anything original, and since every death is a little different, it can't actually kill people.
- The Hidebehind emerging and attacking the Pit Sloth; couldn't fit that in organically.
So, yeah. These last few tales have had a lot of changes in them. But I'm fairly happy with how the last two turned out.
