Finales Always Seemed So Final

Alright, here we are. The climactic end to my attempts at writing a mystery/conspiracy tale series focusing on Agent Beatrice Ross. Took me a bit of tweaking to get the confrontation and the hospital scenes just right, but I think the tale is now stronger off for it.

As before, the goal was to shoot for under 2500 words for each installment in the series. With this installment, I just barely came in under that cap. Final word count came to approximatley 2447.

In Figure 1 we can see further evidence that Conwell is actually just the best and anyone who thinks otherwise can fight me.

This whole tale series feels like a pilot episode. I mean, it was fairly quick and short, introduced characters and a setting, their relationships with each other, showed their skills, all of this pretty concisely, and then it sets up that there is a larger unseen group of defectors alive within Site-64, probably connected to Three Portlands.

I feel like this would be the hour long pilot episode that gets released, soon to be followed by forty-five minute installations about a bigger conspiracy in the SCP world. The only thing different is how many parts of this require outside knowledge of the SCP Foundation universe, so it's like, a spinoff series.

If you can't tell I enjoyed it but I want it to continue :3
(though maybe for it to continue i should just read more twisted pines, hmm)

My goal with Portland Vice was to keep installment under 2500 or so total words per chapter, so to hear that it was able to get in, leave a punch, and get out while leaving you wanting more is mission accomplished.

Twisted Pines is the best spot for more of this style of tale, though this is Creed and Ross's first major appearance. But who knows, maybe they'll pop up again.

This is a fantastic twist that really brings the entire mystery together, but I really wish it was given more time, because right now, it feels too rushed. Like, I get what you wanted to do with it — and it very much works, don't get me wrong — but it just… could use more breathing room, is all I'm saying. Either way though, it's still great.
