Hello, my name is Moto42, AKA "The USS Walrus". I am the original author of SCP-173.
When I posted it to 4Chan's /X/, I had not expected it to be remembered by anyone more than a week later, but had intended to make similar documents on about a weekly basis. Then I lost internet access for a week and a half and other interests pushed the project out of mind.
Then I found this place. Wow.
I'm really impressed with how you have all taken the original and run with it like this. A lot of these are very original and entertaining (The Coffee Machine being my favorite so far.).
I just wanted to say hi, and introduce myself now that I have found this site.
If you really are the guy who started it all, I'd love to see what else you might have come up with
As a side note, I'm kind of surprised that one of mine (the coffee machine) keeps coming up as one of the favorites of lots of people
I can't really take all the credit for it though, some dudes took what I thought was the lamest part of it (the "cup of Joe" thing) and turned it into greatness
Hey dude, whassup? You written any more? We'd love to see them.
Welcome, glad you stumbled your way back to the Foundation! Thanks so much for getting the ball rolling, amazing to see what you got started, huh? Take your time, get inspired, and post any new stuff you come up with.
if youre really the author of the original
then you must be at the very least
marginally awesome
that being the case
make something awesome
you can do it
i believe in you
Wow, are you really the guy who came up with calling them "SCPs" and the whole format?
Did you do any more? Glad to see you've made it here.
We'd love to see what else you've come up with.
you come here as a god among men.
Dude, #173 is what got me into the SCP Project. Make some more backstory for it, I'd love to have a few more paragraphs.
I'd also love a little more on #030. The Homunculus is win.
You are lucky and I envy that Mr. Moto42 sir.
You probably ought to check the dates before you post. This thread is so old that the administrator made a post.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
Quick, someone get a quarantine up before -447 touches this thread!
i am aware of the age of this thread
Then why did you post? It's poor form.
Just saying my personal opinion. Problem?
It's generally impolite to dig up ancient threads and post on them. It's common etiquette on basically every forum.
Alright boys lets keep this going! WHOOOOOOO!
PARTY IN THE DEAD THREAD!
I'll bring the absinthe. We're going to make this one to remember.
We're gonna party like it's 2008!
Why would you do this? 2008 was a terrible year.
2009 on the other hand…
BITCHES WE PARTYING LIKE IT's 1999!
Please stop necroing threads. It's not funny.
I don't know why this keeps happening on this thread specifically. That's about three times now, isn't it?
Sorry, I was more trying to post a humorous comment on a thread that had *been* necroed (last post was a day or two ago, it looks like?). I suppose I wasn't fully awake yet.
I wonder, should there be a policy to lock threads after X months/years pass?
I believe there are cases where it's better to necro and established threas than start a new one. For example, if a new translation sitr crops up after a few months, it would be most appropiate on the translation site thread.
I think it's interesting this thread is still around. I was looking for it the other day to show someone that the creator for 173 had stopped by, but couldn't find the thread.
