A long-overdue essay about writing plausible containment procedures. This was not a direct response to recent arguments about "standard humanoid containment", but it certainly reminded me that I needed to finish this.

Yes, I'm aware that there's an existing essay about containment, but I felt it was horribly out of date and really badly structured. Hopefully this one is a little easier to read and therefore more useful overall.

Thanks for writing this. It has brought up some things I hadn't considerd such as waste disposal and food. This page will act as a nice thought provoker for me. Again thanks for writing this.

I really like this, I sometimes feel like a loner shouting in the wilderness about paying attention to containment procedure writing and it's nice that this holds up as well as it does.

The link under "plenty of experts" is broken and goes to a non-existent page.

I suggest linking SCP-914, since that page has a spectacular example of under what circumstances you'd have to go as high as O5 to clear a test. Even before you get into the experiment logs.

Hmm… I'm not too sure about 914 as an example, since we still do see a lot of proposed tests for it that are rather silly. Might be something to poke the staff on the Rewrite Team or MAST/Maintenance Team about if you really want the edit made.
