Addendum 4384-2:** The following is an excerpted experimental log involving SCP-4384. The trials were conducted on ██/██/20██ by Dr. Roe to deduce different reactions of SCP-4384 from stimuli.

Stimulus	Test Results
Common rabbit introduced into the enclosure.	SCP-4384 shows no signs of interest, watching subject for a few moments before perching atop a branch.
Instance of Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis (Eastern garter snake) introduced into the enclosure.	SCP-4384 shows no signs of interest, proceeding to preen itself for several minutes until the conclusion of the test.
Instance of Cerastes cerastes (Desert Horned Viper) introduced into the enclosure.	SCP-4384 becomes exceptionally hostile, producing shrieks of over 180-decibels and attempting to claw at the snake with its talons.1
D-201512 instructed to enter the enclosure.	SCP-4384 produces a shrill emission, causing temporary deafness in D-20151.
D-21867 instructed to enter enclosure, bearing a mask of Haida make, similar to the one discovered with SCP-4384.	SCP-4384 remains silent for several moments, before cautiously flying near D-21867. After a short period of examination, SCP-4384 returns to its perch, showing no additional signs of interest.
Dr. Roe3 instructed to enter the enclosure.	SCP-4384 immediately becomes curious, flying towards Dr. Roe before promptly perching on her shoulder. SCP-4384 later returns to roost on top of one of the aviary mews.
A recording of a red-tailed hawk shriek is played.	SCP-4384 produces a mating call commonly associated with male instances of Buteo Jamaicensis and ruffles its feathers. It prepares to lift off from its perch, but then pauses and quickly folds its wings. SCP-4384 makes no additional response to repeat playing of the recording.

Footnotes

1. Despite intense efforts, SCP-4384 was unable to harm the subject other than temporarily disorienting it.

2. Note: D-20151 was convicted for various charges of arson and manslaughter.

3. Part of the SCP-4384 containment team, selected for participation based on background in veterinary biology and commendations for exemplary employee behavior.

Heyooo… so this was a heck of an experience! Big thanks to Krelavoth who came up with the original idea and kept up the energy to work on this even while I got writing fatigue and spent too much time grinding in Stardew Valley.

To all of our reviewers in chat, thank you so much for your time and comments! We're glad you took a look at this loud boi birb and appreciate your insights.

There was a fair bit of research and background reading that went into this, for pretty much all the details included here. A fair bit was also trimmed out during all the editing stages. It's been a lot of edits!

For those who would like spoilers, here are spoilers:

The entity is a baby thunderbird. It's locked in eternal battle with its nemesis, the horned serpent, and has taken up guardianship of a Foundation Site that happens to be on the grounds of its usual territory.

It also tries to carry out the spiritual responsibilities of thunderbirbs, specifically sending off heroes into the afterlife, where (according to Haida folklore) they get to smoke good tobacco all day. Did you know that the Haida people often rolled tobacco in lime before chewing it? And some elderly individuals would keep it in their mouths overnight?

Loudboi birb doesn't really understand that some people aren't familiar with the traditions though, so it tries its best to work with what it's got. He's a growing birb, he'll figure things out.

Late question is very late, but still.
Is there a behind the scenes type reason that a birb found down in New Mexico is hella into Haida rituals despite the sizeable distances involved?

I know they traveled and traded, so the mask being found afar maybe isn't the hugest leap of logic, but the bird knowing their rituals… Is it supposed to imply that they traded away a mask containing the spirit of the bird?
That feels like a big thing to trade away. I'm not an expert but it seems like it's pulling multiple very differently located tribal traditions together, in a way that's not lining up with what I can see about them online at least.

It's a juvenile thunderbird doing its first Big Birb Guardianship Duty. Someone dropped off its mask at the place where a horned serpent was messing with things, and the bird answered the summoning call.

ETA: I guess it boils down to "the birb goes where the birb is needed, and the birb was needed in New Mexico".

Hey I don't know if you realize it, and I don't mean to say this is a bad scp, but it seems strangely similiar to an SCP I was begginning to write about. If it is inspired by my scp, then, I feel that you have to give me credit for this page, atleast partial credit. Or else, this is plagarism, and I will have to write an etxremely passive agressive note to the moderators )on this

Based on your post and submission history, I feel as though I can safely say that it is incredibly unlikely that this SCP was inspired by yours.

The original posting of this article was in October of last year. While you first posted a sandbox article for a Thunderbird in July of last year, your post history does not indicate that you brought any special attention to it until January of THIS year.

Furthermore, after reading your sandbox article and this one, I can safely say that the two are completely different articles, only related by the fact that they attempt to SCPify the mythical Thunderbird.

Even if Krelavoth stumbled across your sandbox back in July and was inspired to write the Thunderbird, their interpretation of it is so different from yours that "plagarism" is not an accurate definition of what had happened.
