[Bender voice] "Like an antimeme, and… something bad happens!"
Once again we have a chapter which I'm posting because life is just too dang short to wait until it's perfect. We would be here all year. This is a continuation of "Five Five Five Five Five" and it may be controversial. We'll see.
Things omitted from this chapter for the sake of clarity, streamlining or just because I couldn't get them to work:
- More mould, rot, decay in the house
- Grey tumour-like things cluttering around the place, like the fingertips of some extradimensional cancer god
- Barsin being a Foundation-internal lawyer assigned to represent humanoid SCPs' best interests against the Foundation itself, a much maligned final line of defence of the "human" rights of entities trapped in a world far beyond any real legal jurisdictions
- Red being a youth preacher tormented by visions of Marion Wheeler
Many thanks to Rimple for editorial input.
To be continued.
Continuity note: this Tale takes place in 2012, some years prior to "We Need To Talk About Fifty-Five". However, the fact that this kind of out-of-band continuity note is necessary is not great - you should only need to read the Tales themselves to understand what's happening. So, apologies for that. I will think about ways to be clearer about the chronology in future.
