Hey, could someone unblock this? I'd like to change the formatting and wording. I'll keep it the way it is, with any one of the proposals being possible, but I'll change it so that you don't have to click around so much to access it.
Specifically, I'm taking the "floating pencil" stategy of making 001 something really boring, like a floating pencil, that suddenly cuts off into a bunch of corrupted data with the links to the proposals.
Can someone at least fix the title to read "SCP-001"?
Did anyone want to try out the "random 001" idea? The one where this page shows a random SCP proposal? I see that we have such a page in the orphaned pages list, so I could probably implement that pretty easily — but since this is 001 I'm not going to do it without approval.
FINALLY, OUR OWN TRUE GREATEST ENEMY IS REVEALED TO US!
AND IT IS OURSELVES

Aww, does it have to be the west coast?
That's my favourite coast.
Pretty sure the foundation doesn't say "001 is a special number. So lets find the perfect SCP to assign to it." If they have an SCP, they assign it. Refusing to assign a number because it's a landmark number and so-and-so SCP isn't special enough for it is way too unprofessional for the foundation.
In universe, there IS an SCP-001, but it's classified and hasn't been revealed yet. Hence, the proposals.
If you have no experience writing an article, I'd strongly recommend that you try writing a "normal" article first. -001 proposals are much harder to write than a regular main-lister. That said, there is no special process to write an -001 proposal. You write it, and you post it, except the URL, instead of SCP-XXX, would be something like Fried-Cyanides-proposal, and you'd link it on the proposals-for-scp-001 page.
But, don't do this. If you want to write an article, get a feel for the format and tone and everything first before attempting an -001 proposal.
With permission from TroyL and thedeadlymoose, I've updated the SCP-001 page's formatting, as well as changed which page the proposals will exist on. Instead of the redirect page, the proposals page will now be on the actual SCP-001 page, which is nice.
Anyway, that is all. Thanks again, guys!
In universe, does the foundation not realise that you could close your eyes and scroll down quickly and survive the meme?
What is that picture, and where can I get more pictures like it?
Just Google "fractal image" or something of the sort and browse to your heart's desire.
Obviously the memetic kill agent isn't real (I'm still alive) but if it was couldn't anyone bypass it by closing your eyes and pressing the end button on their keyboard?
The image itself has very little memetic content, so it is probably just the trigger. The actual kill agent was innoculated in mass media or something, and includes the inability to ignore the trigger image. The countermeme might just be the ability to do so.
GreenWolf pointed this out to me- isn't this a standard cognitohazard, rather than being memetic?
As I describe it? No it's definitely memetic. You got it in nursery rhymes and bleach ads or something, if you see the image without the countermeme you suddenly realize your ability to control your own autonomic processes with biofeedback and also your deep suicidal impulse, unless of course you've gotten the countermeme which is just how to not look at the image.
