A question regarding this one (it's my favourite):
What would happen if you were to put two unrelated objects into the Intake booth at the same time? Say, a laptop and a human. Would it combine them in some way, or 'refine' them separately?

That's a pretty interesting Idea. Remember that in one test someone took some bacon meat and a picture of 682 and it made a miniature version of 682. So photos can also affect the outcomes of 914.
…I…I have no idea. I never even thought of that! Damn, what would it do…maybe make a human with an 8 terabyte brain and a laptop with a capillary-cooled CPU. Then again, it would also depend on setting…I think I need to start a test log in the library section…
I'd like to see a test log started. Would you mind if other people added entries?
If no energy is lost, why is there a "mainspring?" And also, it says the object is in "status" until the output door is opened, should that be stasis? I'm not sure if you meant something else; that's why I didn't fix it myself.
no, i misspelled, thanks for catching it! I mean that, if you put in a pound of something, you get back a pound of something. even if it's been converted to a gas or something, you always get back whatever it is you put in, even if it's been changed.
A suggestion for what should happen when SCP-808 meets 914, submitted to the author of 914.
"SCP-808 did not display any ability to read, control, effect, or viscerally understand 914. Upon suggestion from Dr. Snorlison, however, tests of 914 were conducted in 808's presence.
In the presence of 808, it appears that the general effects of 914 remain the same with one notable exception — any electrical device placed within 914 on a 1:1 setting is changed to a clockwork device with the same functionality as the original item. 808 proved unable to utilize her abilities with these devices.
With the exception of the Rough setting, she reported that her communication with electrical devices placed within 914 slowly faded to nonexistence, but that there was no distinct cutoff point where 808's perceptions were cut off. Regarding the Rough setting, 808 said it disturbed her and that "it felt wrong" but she refused to elaborate further.
The other settings have varied effects of course, but the general result seems to be that 914 will alter items so that 808 is unable to effect them."
I like the idea…i may need to work it in somehow. thank you very much for the suggestion!
Though this relates more to 808 then 914, it occurs to me that if and when we do make this canon, it will make life easier for 808. Most of her requests for electronic items have been denied, but if we can make clockwork equivalents…
I like this, as well. I've actually tried very hard to make a point of not having 808 be sensitive to mecahnical devices, but specifically electrical/electronic ones. This line of experimentation could be fun, and would intersect nicely with other ideas I have for 808.
I approve said testing. Let's be careful, however, as SCP-914 is unpredictable at best, and may have some interesting "interpretations" of some devices.
Suggestions for potential "fun" reactions to SCP-808
Part of me realizes that this thing should be in vacuum, that unless the case is air tight, air from our atmosphere would leak into the voidspace… which just makes me think that, rather then blowing hot air out, the mechanistic computer lets air fall in, and uses this pressure gradient to power the thing.
That's totally awesome man.
these are all excellent suggestions! I will be happy to carry out said testing, or leave it up to my fellow researchers…
I would suggest getting scp-682 into the input booth, and putting the setting on "coarse".
Despite the fact that 682 won't fit inside.
Then we'll make it fit!
… Err… I mean…
This does pose a problem, doesn't it?
Piffy is an SCP Foundation Moderator, Lv. 9001 Squishy Wizard, and Knight of the Red Pen.
Had an idea for some testing- what if you removed a gear and put something through it?
Yeah, because that doesn't scream "stupid and suicidal" at all.
The machine likely wouldn't work without all its bits.

As a matter of fact, has anyone ever even TRIED removing any parts from this thing?
Yes, I believe they have.
Also I apparently responded to a three year old post and would like to say being able to delete one's own posts would certainly be great to do.
whoa shit dude 50000 degrees holyshitttttt im gonna +rate this with like 40 proxeys
…ok…
And maybe i did put the temperature tolerance up a touch high…anyone agree? I'm open to a more reasonable, yet still impressive, value.
10,000 sounds fine.
By they way, it would be interesting to put, for example, SCP-096 into Intake on Rough.
I mean, 682 can't fit into it, and plenty of people want 096 gone anyway.
Just make it a Pending Approval.
Strongly suggest this to be official as the use of Dr. ███ has the same number of letters as Dr. Dan. Further suggestion includes the use of spacial-temporal anomalies to allow coherent events to take place during/before/after (Talking 'bout time travel) the termination of 096
Alainpbat, you're effectively (since you seem to have nested the reply incorrectly) replying to a comment that's over five years old.
Furthermore, your suggestion has a couple issues:
1. Dr Dan may be the IRL author, but seeing as we're not a roleplay site, that doesn't make them automatically the person mention in the (in-universe) SCP article.
2. What you mean by "the use of spacial-temporal anomalies to allow coherent events to take place during/before/after" is unclear. Also, how would this improve the article? It seems to be adding unnecessary complicated minutiae details to it.
3. I doubt the Foundation would risk damaging 914, even in the pursuit of terminating 096.
4. There is an assumption being made that 096 could be put into 914 without trouble, and that the result would be worth the effort and eventual trouble.
