why the fuck are we wasting resources on her. we are not therapists. euthanize her and be done with it.
Because we contain, we do not destroy. We are pack rats.
That being said, this is horrible. Downvoted.
Admin, SCP Wiki
I second this. If it were something that could possibly benefit the Foundation or the world as a whole, I could understand the ridiculous containment requirements. (8km underground and a &#%^-ton of telekill [372 tons for the slabs on the ceiling and floor combined] just to keep her from oozing?)
Downvoted.
And yes, I read your comment, Bright. We've released better-written SCPs than this. A rewrite might make this more interesting.
Welcome to six months ago.
EDIT: I just did some math, and the total weight of the Telekill, if it has the same mass as iron, assuming the cell is four meters in height and assuming it is in cast plates, is 472,962.5 kilograms. 473 metric tons.
Yeah, that's a bit much. Maybe halve or quarter the telekill thickness. Eight kilometers of rock, plus a half-inch of Telekill should be enough to keep her from oozing.
At 6cm, it drops to 233,139.7248 kilos (233 metric tons), and at 3cm it drops all the way to 91,140.1956, or 91 metric tons. That's for a 1.18 inch thickness of Telekill. Considering the cell could be used for other SCPs once Dolores dies or gets transferred elsewhere…
For a quarter inch of Telekill, it drops way down to under 20 tons of the stuff. 18,114.6735648 kilos to be sort-of-exact.
Some of my favorite SCPs have been deleted and this tripe remains. I'm a little bitter.
The telekill article claims the mass as "9.78 g/cm³." Not sure if that matches with iron.
I only mentioned the telekill because there are other SCPs that could legitimately use it (indestructible / actually useful) that have had "requests denied" because the stuff is "scarce." However, if telekill was written exclusively for this SCP (or vice-versa), I could understand the favoritism.
How about, instead of her just oozing a physical manifestation of of her empathy, she actually absorbs the feelings from people, in effect making them feel better.
Or am I completely off base and this is one of those oldies that are immune to criticism because of its age?
Forgive my cynicism. As I said at the start, some (what I could consider) better written and executed SCPs have been deleted and things like this, that only waste resources, remain.
So reduce the quantity of telekill used.
Halve the size of her quarters, and make her telekill shielding a lot thinner.
Also, the goo that she oozes… let's make it useful. We keep her alive so that we can harvest the goo, and we let her have shielded quarters because constant goo-harvesting would kill her.
9.78 g/cm³ is significantly denser than iron (7.87), and falls nicely between copper (8.93) and molybdenum (10.22).
Regardless, this does hit #7 (excessive resource use) on The Big List of Overdone SCP Cliches, when it really doesn't need to. I realize that it gets a tiny bit of leeway due to age, but the "sucks to be them" concept has been done far better (SCP-116, SCP-415, etc.). Could definitely use a rewrite, especially the containment procedures. One possibility is the 239 treatment - chemically-induced coma. If she's particularly well-behaved, maybe a cell in the Mare Ibrium facility via SCP-120, but that's also a bit excessive.
Jesus CROW, you guys are assholes. The Foundation DOES keep some things around that serve no useful purpose, you know.
The article is FINE, leave it alone. Make the quarters smaller and thin out the telekill if you must, but that's all it needs.
So I'm right about it being untouchable.
Disregard, guys. My argument is moot.
Clef, chill. The kid is just as allowed to express his opinion as you are yours.
Oh, wait. it's tomatogoatee. Scratch that, he genuinely is being an ass today.
I've never liked this SCP, particularly, and agree that the containment procedures are grossly unnecissary, especially considering how often I've seen we staff smack down new articles for using telekill at all. This article should be held to the same standard as the rest of the list.
Alright. I'll concede I've been a bit harsh with my opinions. I never intended any of my comments to be a personal attack.
Clef: Name calling is not really necessary. I was stating my opinion and backing it up with why I had that opinion. My last post was a bit out of line and, for that, I apologize. I'll drop it.
Yoric: I suppose I irked you with my question on 246. I was genuinely curious as to why two articles warranted different consideration as far as test logs. If I came across as dickish, I assure you it wasn't my intent.
I'm not here to piss people off. I'm here because a lot of it is genuinely good fiction and I enjoy reading it.
A noble proposition, but I lack the skill to create. Besides, in my first post, I mentioned why I felt it should have been removed and in my second post I even offered a suggestion to improve it. (It went downhill from there, but I was trying to be constructive, despite my bitter overtones.)
*raises hands* Hey, I just did the math for it and suggested the telekill be thinned out, I kinda like the article m'self.
12cm -> 12mm isn't a factor of 1200, I don't think…It's a factor of 100.
Anyway, that's fine, I meant I liked the article as a whole, not that a 12cm of telekill wasn't going…rather overboard. I just did the math(Well, somebody helped me, 'cause I've forgotten most of the math I knew in school) in an attempt to prove the guy wrong about the amount required.
Oho, I stand corrected, nevermind.
EDIT: Isn't a 4x3m cell a little small? A 12x9 was perhaps a bit much (That's a small studio apartment), but 4x3, is like, a bedroom.
Um, 12 cm to 12 mm is only a factor of TEN. As in, not a hundred like you say it is.
And, this just in, I crunched some numbers, and due to the fact that the room is NOT a solid block of Telekill, your factor of reduction isn't even the 120 that your numbers (if corrected) would claim.
Things known:
The old room was 16 m by 9 m, with walls coated 12 cm (0.12 m) thick.
The new room is 4 m by 3 m, with walls coated 12 mm (0.012 m) thick.
Neither room has a height given. For simplicity's sake, we'll assume both rooms have the same height and call that variable n. Its exact value is unimportant for these calculations.
Also note that only the walls were coated, per article wording. Ceiling and floor were not. It is also safe to assume both rooms are rectangular.
Old room's coating is two walls of 16 x n x 0.12 (length x height x thickness) and two walls of 9 x n x 0.12.
Multiplying it out gives 1.92n and 1.08n. Total volume of telekill: (1.92 + 1.92 + 1.08 + 1.08)n, or 6n m3.
New room's coating is two walls of 4 x n x 0.012 and two walls of 3 x n x 0.012.
Multiplying it out gives 0.048n and 0.036n. Total volume: 0.168n m3.
Dividing 6n by 0.168n gives 35 5/7. That is the reduction factor.
currently: "SCP-148 is a metallic substance, composed of a variety of known and unknown elements. The total mass of SCP-148 on hand is approximately -1.1- 1.2 tonnes."
So we should at least change that to fit
and also, the memetic properties of 148, er anti-memetic… is not a possible captivity method, as the ingots propagate the memetic effects in increased intensity after being subjected to the …
This is an -ARC, my dude. Nobody cares.

What on Earth is going on with her hand and neck? This article isn't bad, but it's not great, either. Might as well keep it around, there are much worse ones that need dealing with first.
Abstaining.
Why was the Agent who acquired her terminated? I mean, if he shot up the town to retrieve her I could understand that, but he just told her to turn herself over to the Foundation, and she did so. Using a nonviolent, persuasive method, the Agent managed to capture/obtain 132 in what I believe is one of the most peaceful acquisitions I've read about so far.
And for this he is terminated.
why?
I would guess because he exposed the existence of the Foundation to her without guarantee that she would maintain its secrecy. In other words, if she had refused, and thus he had failed to acquire her, the security of the Foundation would have been compromised.
Huh, when I read it it sounded like the agent made her have sex with him in exchange for protection. I dunno, it could be any number of things.

…really bugs me. I get the usage, but it's too often confused with "effects," and its application here as "affective absorption" irritates me. Is there another way this could be phrased, like "empathic" absorption or something?
The last sentence of the second paragraph under Description also uses the word "effectively" which just makes it worse. Then, in the next paragraph: "[…] to help filter outside human affects." Seriously? It's like it was set up to deliberately use the most misleading usage of a commonly misused homonym.
To be honest you could just pad the ceiling with Telekill, she's underground. Unless it's literally the sufferer of the entire world's sorrow, then don't mind me.
EDIT:
*min min googles "diameter of the earth", does some diagramming*
So SCP-132 absorbs emotions from her current location through all walls and the ceiling, but not the floor. So you can possibly cut the amount of Telekill further by 1/6.
We don't use telekill. For anything.
Admin, SCP Wiki
Completely ignoring the containment procedures and the telekill, how in the HELL do they know what her ability is? What empirical test did they use to determine that she "builds up" negative emotions? Are they just taking her at her word?
She's drifted down to -6. Suggesting deletion.
T…thirding. I half want to ARC this one.
Admin, SCP Wiki
I'd agree to ARCing it. This is one of our older articles, innit?
