First tale. Probably conflicts with every single headcanon in existence. I'm not sorry. :D

Edit: Although this tale was deliberately slightly tongue-in-cheek, it can, and does, exist in the same universe as Wednesday, 3pm, The Office of Paul Dimaccio — as the titles imply. Future instalments will lean more towards the latter's tone, but even so, we haven't seen the last of Clef or the "Taste Sensations" in this arc…

Really like the nod to some of the wilder Clef stories. I think it's a really good balance between the "insane-literally-satan-gonna-kill-everything" Clef, and a more mundane personnel member. That is, it's interesting without sacrificing realism. It actually works perfectly well with my headcanon, that is, stories like the Clef-Kondraki incident are made up legends that lower Foundation personnel pass around about their mysterious superiors.

It's nice to see some people picking up on this, because this is a canon-in-infancy wherein the basic idea is to keep the wisecracky nature of some of the older stuff, but cut out the really unrealistic / Mary Sue elements, so that it becomes a work environment that's merely unlikely, rather than so impossible it breaks suspension of disbelief. (Apart from all the impossible anomalies running around in the world. Obviously.)

I like this Clef. This is like, real, for-actual Clef instead of wacky do-things Chowder/Santa/Bondageclef. He's still kind of sarcastic, but he's actually someone you could see competently leading a research team.

But why are the Boyd siblings FitzSimmons?

And why is Weiss Fluttershy?

That said, I think you're applying way too specific examples to relatively general characterizations. The Boyd siblings are just two people who are close and work together that just got ambushed by a question. And Weiss is a pretty stereotypical nervous FNG that's suddenly been singled out by a really intimidating guy that's also many, _many_ ranks above her.

The Boyds are a little Easter egg. Roget used different images for Boyd in SCP-5200-J and SCP-7800-J. Therefore, siblings! (The female Boyd's actions, and Clef's comment to her, are also a nod to 5200-J, as I'm sure anyone who's read it has noticed.)

And, yeah. I could probably have cut an 'um' or two but not that much. Weiss is fucking nervous. It turns out you can be incredibly good at what you do and worthy of a literal seat at the table — even as a rookie being shown how things work as a one-off — and still be nervous as shit. She isn't going to be a one-note trembling wallflower, I promise!
